Heyas!

Done some excessive searching and haven't found an answer.

Working on a mod that with some itemtypes and blocks being grindable in the quern, and using the property "grindingPropsByType" to achieve that.

Everything works just fine, but I'd like to make some things take more time to grind, and can't figure out the correct field to use, if there is one.

Even checked as many examples of vanilla items in game to see if I can find any that change the time to grind, but have come up empty.  Also tested changing the "materialDensity" property to see if that would affect the time, but it doesn't appear to.

Is it possible to change how long it takes to grind something?

Thanks

I would look into machines, maybe poke the auto rotor, powered querns can go much slower, the rotation speed doesn't line up between manual and machine, manual the quern animation is quite slow and is around 8 seconds I think to grind a stone, but the machine is slower up to around .8 or .9 then it's about the same as hand grinding but the animation is very fast.  Otherwise you are right, there is no setting in the stone itself, just density which seems not used?

I was just now looking at:

https://github.com/anegostudios/vssurvivalmod/blob/master/BlockEntity/BEQuern.cs

And while there's a maxGrindingTime(), it looks like it's hard coded for 4 seconds.

So I guess the answer is:  no, you can't change it, unless:

  • The devs are willing to add a plug for it in the future
  • I'm willing to do something excessive like a runtime patch (no thank you)
  • Making a special quern just for this grinding process as its own machine (which also feels a little over the top)

I suppose I'll just live with the 4 second grind time, even though it feels a little fast for this process.
