I don’t know what I am doing wrong with skeps.  They are full, I try to harvest them, and it just falls on the ground and I can’t pick it up after I try to break it.  What am I doing wrong

When a skep is populated, in order to pick it up whole you have to leave one of your 4 container slots empty and right click on it with an empty hand I think, and it'll go into that container slot.

If you want to harvest it for honey, yes, you have to break it and it'll be destroyed.  That's how skeps work.  Eventually we'll have box hive technology that doesn't destroy the bees every time.

No, I don’t want to pick it up.  I’m trying to harvest it.  I hit it to break it, and it just falls in the ground and is sitting there.  I didn’t get anything from it.

Do you have any mods you're using?   If so I'd recommend trying it without mods and seeing if it works.

No mods.  Vanilla.  I’ve tried it with two different skeps.  I try to break it to harvest, it falls in the ground as if I threw it out of my inventory and i can’t pick it up.  It despawns a eventually.

Do you mean they are populated, or does it actually say "harvestable" and the entrance turned orange?

I’m an idiot.  I was trying to harvest them when they were populated, but not quite harvestable yet.

Another tip: try to keep racoons away from you skeps, because they also like to "harvest".

Haha, yea I fenced them in now.
