maibock
Bismuth, both in game and in real life is really easy to mold and hammer, considering that in the real world it can be easily scratched apart by a fingernail. Therefore, bismuth ingots should be able to be hammered without use of an anvil, perhaps with a dense, hard rock like granite instead?
Streetwind
It's likely an intentional design decision that you need a proper copper anvil to work any kind of metal, regardless of its physical properties. After all, one of the inspirations for VS, Terrafirmacraft, did feature granite blocks as anvils. If that was a desired concept, I wager it would have been implemented long ago.
