  1. Good Evening, Morning, or Afternoon to those beautiful souls reading this for answering my query to a question that has perplexed me for quite a time. In a current RP world I'm in our starting island is entirely covered with Granite only digging down near the mantle can one find Peridotite. Traveling by sea we have found literally every Igneous and Sedimentary rock there is: Bauxite, Conglomerate, Chalk, Chert, Claystone, Limestone, Sandstone, Shale, Andesite, Basalt, Peridotite. As well with the other special stones like Halite, Kimberlite, and Suevite. But not a single indication of Phyllite or Slate on the surface of the world. Am I missing a key detail about these two stones which contain the precious Marble which I seek? Details: to be fair we haven't sailed to the world boundary but maybe a couple hundred to few thousand chunks (which I believe are 80x80 blocks) out from the spawn. Below are the furthest distances traveled in the cardinal directions: - North: -542, 1 , -3127 - South: -190, 1, 5076 - West: -3510, 1, 1204 - East: 1553, 1, 3131 Further question: Will I have to go further out to find the stone because I'm starting to believe it doesn't exist on the surface.
  2. Solution: In the current version of 1.18.5 (Stable) requirements to tame bees while temperatures are low or snow is around, are as follows: The outside temperature must be above -5*C, the date should be March 5th (when I saw the "ready to swarm" message) or when snow melt is visible (encase people are using different than 9 standard days per month), and the skep has to be within three blocks of the wild hive and surrounded by flowers (the more the better but there is a cap of 100?). Answers to my questions at the start of the thread: - No the bees do not have to be loaded in visually for the skep to be inhabited. - There is no difference between using flowers as of current version, only in model. - Yes, bees will not swarm during cold seasons only during Spring, Summer, and Early Fall. Rain does not effect bees swarming skeps. - No they love me. Possible solution to low temperature environments (Not tested): - Moving towards the equator of the world to get warmer temperatures. - Building a small greenhouse (search it up in the wiki) around the wild beehive and doing said requirements.
  3. I believe that season/temperature does have an effect on how the bee's populate skeps because of the messages that are supposed to be shown. On my Vanilla world, no mods, or changes to the base experience there's no message which displays "Will swarm." It is currently February and the snow is starting to melt around my house. Once it turns Spring I will check on the skeps once again to be sure.
  4. Sounds like the solution you're all narrowing towards is waiting longer according to the bee keeping chart in the Wiki and if that doesn't work see if it'll work once Spring comes around?
  5. If the Wiki or in-game guide to Animal Husbandry doesn't have the correct information does that mean things aren't working as intended for the bees to inhabit the skeps? Have bees, in the most recent update, broke or aren't working as intended?
  6. Recently have been dipping my toes into bee keeping after getting into the iron age thought I certainly have done is sooner. Though nine in game days (currently November) have passed from me placing the skeps under the bee hives and placing upwards of 10+ flowers around each one, not a single bee has decided to inhabit my home for them. The bees are fairly far away from my home and are not loaded in by distance if that piece of information helps. A few questions to assist me in the future: - Is there a distance bees need to be loaded in for them to inhabit a skep? - Do bees have preferences over some kinds of flowers compared to others? - Does weather/season effect if the bees decide to be in a skep? - Do the bees just personally hate me?
  7. Thank you everyone for the mod reccomendations, which I might use, and the vanilla assistance. I'll push through with the vanilla style till I go insane, thank you!
  8. Streetwind is there a faster way to smelt these ores as I believe I can only do 25 at a time in a bloomery but I have 5,000 to smelt.
  9. I recently found myself delving into a cave looking for coal when I happened upon a MASSIVE vein of Bountiful Iron Ore, I have mined four stacks of the stuff and vein keeps going. I was looking into how to smelt all this and it looks like single-use bloomeries are my only savior. Is there a way to make the process easier or will I be subjected to hours of hard labor in the forge?
  10. Appreciate the response friend, have a wonderful day.
  11. The shelf is made to store different small items which don't stack such as metal bars or crock pots but I find it annoying that if you store a crock pot on a shelf then remove it the bonus to preservation no longer exists. I'm still in the same cobblestone enclosed room, door closed, and the only thing that has changed is that I moved the pot from the shelf to my hands and somehow it instantly starts rotting? Is there a going to be a fix towards this or do I have to store all my crock pots on the ground?
