Lol, turn off PVP. I should have mentioned that. My son killed me all the time as well until I disabled that setting. I'm glad she is having fun. It's a blast playing with them.

@Thorfinn With my first 1.20 world I had that issue myself. I just couldn't see it, but I knew it was there close by. I spent game days until I finally found it and same thing it was not even 100 blocks from my base, but obscured. The one that really got me early on was limestone. I went maybe 5-6k south to find it on my 3-4th world. Packed up my inventory fat with it and some bauxite and came back to base so proud of my determination to find it when everybody complained about granite starts. The next day I run north 2k and its everywhere and I can see bauxite in the side of a mountain. So much for my big run, I just needed to explore around me first. From then on I don't go further than 2k looking for resources until I've exhausted 2k in every direction. That's why I always advise people on discord to only go 2k in every direction.. yes it may be further but odds are it is closer than you think.

The recipe hasn't changed for the furnace since I've started playing in 1.18. The new door is for the beehive kiln. Any of the guides on you tube should work.

Does my slanted roof design not count as a roof?

Slabs and chiseled blocks are always the reason that greenhouses don't work. It also looks like you might be 12 wide which is beyond the greenhouse dimensions. You can't really make a greenhouse pretty with the game mechanics. They sort of have to just be block walls and a flat ceiling. -
My commodity trader turned into an agricultural supplier.
Zane Mordien replied to fotzepol's topic in Questions
My traders have never changed unless I did a "prune" command. Maybe you marked the wrong trader and ran back to him instead. I have done that before. Took me a minute to look around and figure it out. Sorry your hunt for lime was a bust. You really can't buy enough lime to do anything with so he is just saving you money. -
If you remove food from a sealed crock it breaks the seal. I assume it is the same if you seal a crock and then put the food in, you break the seal. Not sure why it would let you seal an empty crock but if it does then don't do it.

It would be nice if they created preset options for map generation that would set the landform, landscale, etc... so you could select a starting preset to get oceans, islands or one big landmass like today. After you select the map type you wanted you could always customize it more but it would be nice to right out of the gate know the settings that would generate oceans for the new boat. Sort of like the map selection in Civilizations where you pick Continents, fractal, pangaea, etc.. I know those don't translate well to how VS creates the map but the concept would be the same.

@LadyWYT I always play blackguard and I still use flint spears even with the damage penalty. I'd say more for my preference but I don't want to spoil it for them.
-
Do not use plate armor unless you have the blackguard armor or the other one. Player made plate armor = no healing unless you remove the armor. Have plenty of healing poultices. I use a shield always but keep torches to throw down to light up the area if needed. I still carry a lantern and have the shield ready to hot swap over. I personally think you should prepare to battle as both range and melee. Some people would disagree but that is my playstyle. Have fun, going through the RA the first time is awesome!

I think it depends on how much bronze you have. If you are filthy bronze rich then make bronze spears. If you have tons of copper and precious little bronze then copper spears. If you have very little of either, then flint spears. Beauty of flint spears is they are disposable if you find something you want to carry more than them.

It's not very rare in reality. I've become really good at finding it. I have stacks and stacks of it if I try. I think meteoric iron is a remnant from before steel was in the game but I need an old timer to confirm. Black bronze is an odd one. I mainly use it for an early pick axe because I pan tons of bony soil and usually get 2 gold and silver nuggets. I did actually have one playthorugh where i had tons of gold ans silver so I made a black bronze anvil. It felt weird but that's what I had.
-
Personally I use it for all of my tools because it is faster to process than iron. I save my iron to process into steel, but I also don't make tons of steel. If you love making iron blooms and steel then it probably has no use for you. I do think they should update the recipe for steel and make it so you can turn meteoric iron into steel.

I like that idea. It costs money so it wouldn't be a free pass. It could generate the treasure hunter trader the same way as the archives. I also wish the traders made more sense to the game in general. I like the multiple trader outposts you find from time to time. It seems more immersive than a trader sitting on top of a mountain or in the middle of a forest by themselves. I'm sure changing the traders is in the plan somewhere.

@doomstrike53 I bet if you use the names of the worldconfig commands I listed and added them to the serverconfig file in the same format they would probably work. Try it out and see. You just need to play with it in a test world to find out what the proper [value] to use is. "WorldConfiguration": { "gameMode": "survival", "playerlives": "-1", "startingClimate": "temperate", "spawnRadius": "50", "graceTimer": "0",

Can i install a mod and use it with a save i already have?
Zane Mordien replied to Luke05's topic in Questions
Save a backup and just try out. If it worked great if not then you have the answer and you can just use the backup save. In general most mods can be added anytime with some exceptions. This may be one of those. -
Native copper and a v high reading and nothing in 11 bore holes? Something is wrong. Are you using the node search mode of the prospecting pick? If you did node searches as you bore down you have to find something at very high. Flat vs mountain makes no difference except the ore vein will match the upheaval of the terrain above the vein. Meaning it will go up and down the same as the surface.

Sorry to side step the question, but how is you computer not good enough to start a world? I've run this game on some pretty low end laptops to start with. Maybe long term it would get unplayable but just for the initial set up it doesn't take much. Then you just copy the save file to the server. The respawn radius you can change in game with commands. I've never tried to change the equater distance and it's not listed in the wiki but it might be a command. /worldconfig is the command to change these settings. Go into creative mode and use the in game help to see what commands are available.

True words. I recently put a pit kiln 3 blocks from my pulverizer but then i got nervous and built a dirt wall between them. That was way to much to risk over a stupid fire.

I've had that happen occasionally for my own server in my house. One of us can connect but the other gets that error.

I understand. I did it with my 9 yr old son and i was ready to just be done with it. It was a disappointment after all the fun of the RA. We had a blast doing that the first time a year ago. He went to school and wrote stories about how fun it was beating the Edilon with daddy. There were no happy stories about this fight. I wish the elevator could be unlocked after you reach it on each floor. At least that way you could avoid redoing the parkour as you try again where you failed. Maybe some loot would be nice as well. Doesn't have to be great but something to make me feel like I got a trophy for getting to the top of the tower.

I just haven't gotten the hang of finding it yet and maybe some bad RNG luck. I say that but in my current map I found both Cr and sulfur by accident while looking for tin in the same shaft plus the tin. In all my playthorughs I've never had an issue finding sulfur. That being said it may just be that I've never had a bad luck RNG map for it yet. I feel like I've done this so long but it's probably only been 10-12 worlds. That's small potatoes compared with a lot of players.

That's how it works out for me. Since it is in the sedimentary layers you don't have to go that deep when looking for it. So even if it takes you multiple bore holes to find it, you are only going down 20-30 blocks vs trying to find deep ores. Even the deep ores I often find on poor readings if they are close to base. Traveling 2000 blocks for a high reading wastes more time in the end to me.

I have a $300 used Dell server blade with 128gb of ram that I use and I agree it works better than my gaming laptop. It would probably work even better if I was smarter on how to set things up optimally. Lag is almost non existent unless I run a prune command ... haha that lags it out.
