3 days here as I am slow to select my 'home' , I like water and a view... I am getting better so may drop the delay, but it will be hard to break the habit of a nice temp habitat, one must have standards after all or one is simply not human...err seraphin, or does it count if you are seraphin, is it a human thing ? Nah 3 days for me, the bois are too noisy so I want something between me and them.

Is it VRAM or System RAM ? I figured System but was not 100% as its usually a VRAM thing. I didn't notice much change myself. I tend to adjust to my tolerances, I can and will tolerate a lot of stutter if the scene warrants it, I played Dues Ex on a PC woefully unpowered to a point I was doing boss battles at 2 -5 FPS (so I got a habit of using GEPS on boss battles), I played Unreal in a tiny window because it looked awesome... so I am not a I need 20 000 FPS or the game is unplayable, I am happy with a lot less. I roll with most of the eye candy on, 614 view distance with FPS limited to 75 fps at 1920 x 1080 , and its mostly smooth and looks great. I did up the chunk limiter so it stuttered a bit less as I have 32 gig ram.

I think VS will go under the radar, its not violent nor does it advocate anything except eldritch horror and survival, the fights are tame and there is no other forms of issues. I get the point but VS is pretty low on the list at the moment, I just hope the industry will wake up before it goes too far.

The new healing mechanic makes the RA boss frustrating
FlareUKCS replied to Kiko's topic in Discussion
Wouldn't it be better if the effect of the boss was more pronounced, as in a wave that you could dodge ? A pulse on the ground you could jump over ? I think this could be better than healing over the damage a means to avoid the damage instead, a pulse of damage you can jump over that you can see ? It seems bad when one can heal over a boss, it seems more 'fun' to learn to avoid a boss attack, rather than simply 'tank' it ? -
I would say its not perfect, but its at least better than TOBG to a point where copper is a bad thing, I dont think its too hard to get to copper a lot of the time as in I can get copper tools in 2-3 hours of a fresh start, and I think that is the slow aim of a vanilla play. I prefer the slow progress to copper than the ignore copper because we have iron tools from TOBG... its not MC is bad, its just VS is focusing on appreciating progress, I mean I get copper in about 3 hours, and I am slow... I am sure a dedicated player would laugh at my time. Not perfect, but for now its fun... at least we like copper.

Lost with errors/warnings of mods during game loading
FlareUKCS replied to Denis_Noob_On_Line's topic in Discussion
Some mods are not updated, the authors moved on or just cant justify the effort to update a mod, plus the game updates will cause issues, the latest has delisted some files to make sure mods are covered in current releases (SSBO) , so mods may be in flux for a while or simply not updated, mod authors are not obligated to keep up, we appreciate all mods. -
multiplayer Poll on item pricing (for servers)
FlareUKCS replied to wildforester's topic in Discussion
I am not trying to be difficult here but (oh yeah heres the but) the original title had me thinking MTX...as in a server that made players pay real cash, I know this is not the case but the title immediately made me think that, may be a me thing but I just wanted to let you know this in a friendly manner, as in I know its not MTX level just saying I thought that for a while. May be worth changing the title to reflect this ? -
I suppose in the end what defines a genre is not that important as what we get from the experience personally. I mean Diablo is considered a ActionRPG, but I dont think its a RPG myself, I think Baldurs Gate ... Diablo was a fun loot collection that I enjoyed, the lore was interesting but I liked the loot collecting, definitely not what I consider any RPG...action or not. So I agree with you it is subjective, or even personal.

You heard of the 'heroes journey', a template for story writers of all types... it outlays a start, a struggle, a path of getting strong and then a ending, that to me is a RPG. VS is more a carve a life here type, you start and struggle but you are not usually aiming to get strong to get to the end, you are carving out a space to live in... you aint the hero you are a seraph that woke up and wanted to live, then thrive. RPG should be define by the R... you play a Role, a position carved out for the player to fill, then struggle a bit then get stronger, then win. It should stand to reason you need some lore centric reason to be the role (I dont define hero or villain as some have bad people winning). The confusing part could be because it doesn't have to be a traditional story, it could be starting with the player, no background reason just a conflux that occurs now and the player/s need to act, a current story with a current issue and not one started years ago.

Its odd that the parts that are not loading are the story parts, at least I would guess it is.. or its the mod BetterRuins.

VS is not an RPG, its a eldritch horror survival game with a creative slant, the newly announced adventure mode will be more RPG like. VS can be a RPG with certain mods like the XSkills mod, but natively it is not. RPG typically denotes a game where on gains skills/levels up, becomes a hero/villain and 'wins' the game, VS has an optional story one can pursue if one wants or not, the game doesn't care its more a reason things are like they are... the world, and the players experiences it as they want. That's my lowly opinion at least

The game as a whole is a slow burn, as it was meant to be, careful additions to make the game more, rather than bombastic changes that will annoy players... I for one approve the slow burn method.

While I am curious why you have a SSD for games and not for your OS, the OS is so much faster with an SSD, but thats not the issue. I find it odd your performance was so bad, you have a similar spec to me (i74790k 32 3060 on a SSD) and I get smooth 75 FPS (my monitor limit). I am curious did you install the game on the original SATA HDD and then later move the install to the SSD ? If you did try installing it from fresh to the SSD as that should set all data paths correctly. I run the game on my gaming SSD, but originally off a SATA drive, so I installed it onto the SSD rather than just cut and move. Lets start at the basics, did you install the game to the new SSD, or simply move it there ?

The team is looking to the waters a bit this time, the 1.21 pre version have tried to add some fun to the waters, but not to the point other things spawn there, or a reason to actually go into the ocean... coral and/or waves but not mobs yet, I dont doubt the team will do something as this is a step to making oceans interesting but at least now we have coral and waves... its a good start I would say. I think that spawns may be adjusted so we get a few less daylight spawns, unless you have a cave near to spawn them so they can move to you. I think the spawns are still linked to light radius, so some random shade could be ok as a spawn but I haven't been too hassled by drifters, I do the usual despawn trick, my only change is to make a rooftop access so I can drop and run.

I dont mean to be nasty or sound aggressive here, but we have a welcome section and a section to help players speak of VS or other subjects. All players , including but not exclusive of Hytale players are welcome here, we have other sections of the forum to speak and get help, and VS has a very helpful Discord if that is your bag. I just think the news section has lost the news part, I mean the new pre 3 is out, but not a squeak, even Tyron is not wow'ing us with some new crazy .gif. Lets get back to normal, and this includes Tyron, oi wheres the crazy .gifs man
