  1. Yes, I am following the thread and I see nothing but issues with this suggestion. Nothing against the platform, but the two systems are simply incompatible on many levels. Bridging the two creates moderation blind spots and introduces legal risks. A Matrix server admin running a bridge becomes: A data processor (translating encrypted Matrix messages to Discord plain-text and vice versa) A content relay (thus creating scenarios where a message deleted on one platform wouldn't necessarily be deleted on the other) Open to liability for: Copyright claims Harassment content Moderation disputes Law enforcement requests All without Discord’s legal shield that would handle many of these things before the server owner even knew of it. I do not wish to place this burden on the team over at Anego. I still do not see this as a good thing.
  2. Still even having a button that brings up a window for you to choose the location and filename of your backup file would be great. Then you could name it however you wanted and store it wherever you wished and not have to worry about disk space on the drive where VS is located. A similar "restore from backup" option would be nice as well.
  3. The other major concern I have is having the information flow be splintered. A lot of the updates about the game come before Tyron even posts about them here because he has his game dev channel in the Discord where he talks about what he's working on and allows us to communicate with him about it. If people take to using Matrix over discord, then the flow of information becomes splintered rather than centralized. It becomes harder to manage and moderate. It also prevents the two groups from communicating with each other which fosters a "us vs them" mentality. I still do not see this as a good thing.
  4. I did read the thread and it seemed that the comment that got the thread going was a reference to the coming age-gating changes. The part that is confusing to me is that people are saying they have difficulty using Discord, but when I look at Matrix, I see a hundred hoops to jump through in order to create an account and get started. And then everything is self-hosted so the availability of servers to join will be limited That's going to be a huge turn-off for a lot of users. I just don't see the benefit of it.
  5. What is the problem with discord? Anego has no nsfw channels or materials on their discord so like... zero users will be affected by the coming changes.
  6. OP never said how tall their windmill was. One set of sails is enough to turn a quern if the windmill is high up enough.
  7. I'll try that with my next salad.
  8. Hunting is already hard enough when you shoot an animal and it doesn't die so you chase it down only to find it met its end to a bear which ate half of it. bows are fine the way they are. LOL
  9. until now, the only use I'd seen for the screw is as a vertical-only shaft for running axles next to things like the pulverizer and helve hammer that require a horizontal input. Everything in this thread is crazy!
  10. YOU FOUND BAUXITE, TOO??? /tableflip
  11. There it is... There's your punishment I mean reward... no... that's not quite right. There's the drawback of getting everything else, you'll be missing one vital thing. In your case it's bauxite. Best of luck.
  12. To be fair, an arctic playthrough is meant to be genuinely challenging. Making those items (or their equivalents) readily available significantly reduces the difficulty, shifting it from "I might actually die" to a minor inconvenience where you simply sift through nearby resources to find alternatives. The core intent, at least in my opinion, of the arctic experience is constant movement and survival pressure until you can reach more temperate regions and secure the resources you need. In other words: Spawn in. Move south. DON'T DIE. I place a lot of emphasis on that last one because dying will invariably respawn you back in the frozen north.
  13. Good idea, but make it cost satiety points the harder a machine is to turn.
  14. /weather setw mediumbreeze you're welcome.
  15. Being able to train corvids would be cool, especially if they are trained to bring you rusty gears.
  16. Yeah, I mean it's not like it's hurting anyone else. Why should they care? I use tgm in Fallout 4 because Preston Garvey sent me to a settlement that's so far south that I was woefully unpreprared for the Legendary deathclaw that ambushed me and got me caught in a 4-way battle between it, a behemoth, high level gunners, and the children of atom. >_< Long story short, I didn't even hesitate once, popped open the console, typed tgm and got the heck out of there! The game is more fun when I can actually play it and not have to spend an hour backtracking because I didn't quicksave every few seconds. (Link to video is worth clicking, I promise)
  17. you can also screen -r /whitelist off and type the command directly into the server. Press CTRL + A; CTRL + D to exit screen when finished.
  18. I forgot about borax!!! I swear if he's already got borax, I'm going to literally stand in a rift and beg Dave for mercy.
  19. Yes, it is! I was part of what was fed to the bears! XD XD
  20. How was I attacking anyone??!??!?!?!??? I was literally just replying to you the same way you replied to him, because I thought I could communicate better with you that way. Bro, chill. I'm just trying to help you out. lmfao
  21. The game is oddly devoid of birds aside from chimkins
  22. It's okay, he'll never get to experience this level of dopamine in this game ever again.
  23. I agree.. and in fact, I've used creative mode to get my stuff back after getting ambushed by a bear that literally JUST spawned on me on my server while I was in the process of killing another bear. I think my blackguard friend and I died a total of 5 times before I said, "Hold on, I'm going to be a Cheaty McCheatyPants for a second", popped into creative (which I use /gm c for the command because typing /gm 2 is going to get me killed one day trying to remember which game mode is creative vs survival) and gathered my stuff before running away to regroup and help tackle the bears. In the end we won, but at the cost of all our saved nutrition. FUN FACT: If your bears are scrawny, feed them a couple times before you kill them and they'll drop lots of bush meat and fat! XD
  24. okay... 1. They were checking to see if anyone else had experienced this issue and what the solution was. 2. You aren't the forum police. If this thread is unhelpful to you, ignore it and move on. I've seen a lot of your comments lately and they come off as overly hostile and that's not the kind of culture we want to have around here. (See no. 7: Keep it kind.) And with that in mind... @OBAMFSpike what WAS the solution?
