Is there any 'progression' in terms of cellar effectiveness?

No, it doesn't seem to matter what the material is or if you are underground or not. Any sealed room 7x7x7 or smaller counts as a cellar. It is a bit flaky too, in extreme cold weather the cellar will be warmer than outside. -
Hay blocks are always great, because you can quickly remove them without tools.

The problem I've seen is there can be huge areas that are devoid of ores altogether but if there is 1 vein of a particular ore in an area, there are 20. I know for a fact what is where since I am using the cheat mod and I would return this game in a heartbeat if I had had to have searched the length and breadth of these maps without it. Minecraft there is at least a reasonable chance of finding everything with a little searching, even with the "scanner" I have still flown around some maps for many hours looking for resources. It would take me real weeks to cover that much ground playing "legit". Some of us don't have time for this.

Juice is great! The mash is useful for feed and/or rot so it's almost like double-dipping. Wine lasts a lot longer than it used to. Especially before you are rolling in honey I find it worth doing. Yeah, making normal leather does become useless fairly quickly. Even tending to wear leather as my "around the house" clothes I don't need that much for repairs, and start asking myself why I am collecting anything other than large and huge. What else is there? Salting/pickling, I do a little but that's just a few barrels in one of my cellars. I've been starting to keep a separate wine cellar as well.

I've never gotten that to work.

Temperature Resistances and Adding Heatstroke / Heat Exhaustion

but is it fun? -
I found the coords are also relative to where you start. So generating worlds with the same seed but different starting temperatures, I noticed the terrain doesn't change but the climate does. So instead of the map coordinates being fixed and it moving you around, it moves the world around you. I'm not sure if that makes sense. It's hard to explain.

Nope. Yeah, I know it is annoying when you've got 2l of tannin left and you want to mix some more but you have to get another barrel, but that's the way it is.
-
Except my base seems to get mighty full of barrels mighty fast as it is. It would be great if we could stack barrels.
-
What would be the point of that? They would need to be AT least 4 and 5 slots or you are better off just having the flexibility of the regular container, but more like a single 6 slot and call it done.

As awesome as this is, it would be even more awesome if the crucible did this while it was on the fire so we don't have to stand there like idiots watching it the whole time. The cooking pot shakes and makes noise, crucible deserves feedback too.

Temperature Resistances and Adding Heatstroke / Heat Exhaustion

While I admit it did surprise me that there are only cold issues to deal with but not heat, but as others have said, there is a lot less that one can do to mitigate the heat and it doesn't add fun. As far as what's after the leather backpack, in 1.20 is the sturdy leather backpack, 8 slots. Also the sturdy mining pack. -
Not that I'm against the idea but I really don't see how it would be useful other than early game. Basket stage? Sure. Hunters pack? Yeah. Leather backpack with 6 slots? Nah. I don't see myself ever carrying 6 or more spears, and I wouldn't give up the flexibility at that point. I'm not going to talk about the sturdy pack. Even if they added iron and steel spears, I don't see myself carrying THAT many. I may be biased towards the bow though. No, who am I kidding, I am most definitely biased towards the bow. Hunter class design seems to be more focused on archery, I think a spear bag if implemented, would be more suitable for general population.

Trash? What trash? Almost everything has a use. The only thing I can think of is to toss it on top of a burning pit kiln, it should catch fire and burn up.
-
Which is a bit counter-intuitive, because you uncheck the box that says class-only recipes.

1e AD&D OMG! Brings a nostalgic tear to my eyes. The good old days! I tend to drop the lantern on the ground or throw some torches around, but I haven't done a lot of caving. I don't know why I'm struggling here. Although lately I find a lot of the new games combat difficult (looking at you V-Rising). I used to be a pretty competetive PVPer in many games, forget about PVE, but old age is getting the better of me. My reaction times are very poor. I just have to remind myself there is no shame in playing on easier difficulty. If you have a chokepoint where they can only come at you from 1 way, like in the doorway of your house (if I've got nothing to do at night I greet the trick or treaters) the shield is godly. Can even fire arrows while crouched with shield.
-
So I got a couple of questions here. Is there an announcement or mailing list I can get on when a new PR drops? Is there somewhere we should be leaving feedback other than bug reports?
-
I sometimes feel like I am playing a different game than the rest of you. The higher tier mobs hit like a freight train. I seem to be the only person who values a shield. Maybe I just don't have the reflexes anymore to consistently cheese my way out of taking hits. I upgraded my steel chain to plate because I didn't feel as safe as I thought I should in it.
-
I am puzzled why no iron or steel spears actually. I would agree with Thorfinn the arrows seem fine. I don't know if I would go so far as to call them OP. I play as a hunter and I still find myself using the falx a lot, the situations I find myself in sword and board are the better tactical option. I use the bow mostly for hunting things that run away. OTOH, a sword should last longer than an arrow. It's more a game balance thing to have it break anyway; well made and well cared for tools and weapons can last for ages. Arrows are going to get broken from time to time, there's just no way around it.
-
I have mixed feelings. On the one hand I agree they don't really fit, and I'd rather use a bow than a muzzleloader any day. On the other hand, we do have gunpowder and steel and all the other things required so it isn't that far a stretch. I don't know what Tyron has in mind for end of the tech tree.
-
So far it seems just cosmetic. I haven't poked through the code yet to be sure.
-
Call me boring but I rather like the look of the new rammed earth myself.

Well, you need to make iron doors for it, so yeah, it's still gated behind iron.
