  1. No I believe that snow remains on the roofing blocks only. As you've stated the snow is removed from all other blocks. ive had this happen with fireclay shingles and slate shingles too which leads me to believe its the roofing blocks only because when all other blocks are broken to pick up or remove the first thing removed is the snow. Vintage Story doesn't have roof rakes yet, though as far north as I am it might be a valid investment to keep my tower from succumbing to the elements. =D
  2. I am horrible at reading through the entire thread so forgive me if I hit on something thats already been gone over. Pumpkin patches do wonderful in sand. The sand doesn't allow anything else to grow. You will need a fertilized farming block to grow your pumpkin of course but the remaining blocks can be sand in all cardinal directions plus one block extra left and right to allow gourds to grow off of the vine. Keep bonemeal on your fertilized block and keep it maxed. 150% is what we are shooting for. Next keep the block growing the vine highly saturated with water. An adjacent source block of water does wonders for hydrating the vine. A water jug is the next best thing for hydration here and keep one at the ready. I have a pumpkin farm close to the equator (not on it, too hot) and grow pumpkins year round with eight plants total and I absolutely hoard the gourd. Took a few years in game to figure this all out. What a monumental undertaking it was learning about pumpkins. Ive tried many different things. Now I have what I feel works. Don't use a scythe around pumpkins. That tool is a massive hip knife meant to decimate harvests with ease and without prejudice. A knife is of better use around the pumpkin vine. Be careful now and happy Pumpkining.
  3. Just place the block on the ground and the snow will melt when the chunk updates. But id say it's a normal thing because if you demo a shingle roof in the snow the blocks enter your inventory with snow covering. Roof blocks are the only blocks ive discovered to do this.
  4. Im only saying that ive planted and grown well over three dozen redwood. So yeah, I do have bad luck. If not for it id have no luck at all.
  5. All I will say is simply this. Go plant a forest of redwoods beside a forest of redwood and wait for it to pop. Now compare. That is all. We need something to make them look in the element and not like an attempt. Though I do largely agree with not having them all right off the first spring after germination.
  6. While I do agree entirely about the idea of old growth trees I have to agree entirely about the idea concerning the perk for long germinating seeds and decade old trees too. Would it be impossible to have a tree increase one.....never mind. Imagine having an algorithm that increased every planted tree on the map every year and it just starts boggling my mind. I know computers can handle a lot but there are reasons that things like this do not exist. Makes me want to get a better computer and have a go at coding. Like ive never read a comment similar to that before. XD

    Trees

Imagine the frustration of planting hard earned seed in the earth to spread root and take form and shoot for sky and instead a majestic Redwood time and time again produces some stunted shrubby toothpick of a majesty. (They're barely taller than seed grown pines, pictures provided.) I suggest that something be done about the miserable growth products we are left with after planting trees. The game clearly can generate massive majestic trees off of world generation so why can it not generate a like thing when a seed is planted? It's like the seeds are cursed. This isn't just the redwoods either. I clean up the ladder fuel that grows low on the trunks otherwise the shrub like appearance of the red maple (crap, CRIMSON MAPLE sorry y'all) is unmistakable. Im experimenting with some methods of growing trees to produce larger copies and I'll post if it works. No magic. Just good old survival ingenuity. (pic 3) And how about after a year in game the trees develop vines and moss like the rest of the world? I don't know much about code. But I do know that the impossible only takes longer. Happy Vintage StoryING
  8. To be honest I am not sure. Found this in what I believe was a BetterRuins ruin. I can do nothing with this herb. It's like the torch cactus or a Childs toy, minus the fact that I can break and pick up easily like harvesting a vegetable or the like. In the new update I believe some herbs and spices have been added to assist in fishing. I haven't played the update yet so im only going off of what ive heard which is rarely trustable information. Given other block games are only capable of making baby faces I hope to see Vintage Story go forward with real immersive play and not feel good childish hogwash. Yes, my opinion. XD Take care buddy.
  9. Well explain this then! It has been a bit of a mystery to me for a while now. It would be great to have something to do with all those goods as you've mentioned I do concur.
  10. Yuck
  11. Welcome to the forums too! There are some really helpful seraphs in these forums. Chime in anytime for any advice or the lot.
  12. Well youre in luck then cause we have minimal mods. Ummmm........ BetterRuins. Stacks. TerraPretty. Low Light and a few others. It's pretty enjoyable. I think we have 13 or maybe 14 mods. Nothing serious.
  13. We are in the forums under Vintage Armisteros. I am the abrasive one. I'll apologize now but you are most welcome. We have a cool server. I am off the beaten path from others by 25k blocks. Walk On Home Boys. XD
  14. If interested let me know and I will post a link for our server (Vintage Armisteros). I am unaffiliated with anyone on this forum but couldn't help noticing the post is almost a year old. The server I am on is active and we have between 6-12 players most times throughout the week. It's an ebb and flow for certain. Take Care.
  15. Vintage Armisteros You both are welcome. Currently 1.25.5 or whatever the last version before the new. CRAP! SORRY GUYS! 1.21.5 errr whatever XD Always welcoming miscreants and misfits like myself. You can find us on page three or four of the multiplayer forums. Im an adult with no friends too. And I am surrounded people and that is just fine with me.
  16. It would be swell if we could use a temporal gear on the footing of the teleporter so that we may respawn immediately. I don't mind the way it is I just thought it would be the bees knees if we could have an easter egg of sorts like that. That is all. Game on!
  17. But what about "Five Block Chop"?
  18. All I know is that I ate a Funeral Bell trying to put it in a flower pot. Well shit. That just happened. *Oh gosh darnit I ate Fly Agaric too to see if id trip. I did not. The more you know. *
  19. Ive logged several hundred hours on the server I play on and I collect every scrap of flint I come across. I have crates and crates full of flint. Because of this, ive crafted crate after crate of fireclay. Plus, when you start mining coal, you'll find fireclay under most coal deposits. (Im not certain id classify as an expert but thank you regardless) I wasn't aware either but now I most assuredly am. Oops XD This is precisely what triggered my curiosity. As a matter of fact, I'll fire another load of commodities and I'll play around with some stuff above the chimney to solve this problem. I used a grate thinking it would allow smoke through as it's what all the kiln is made with to begin with! Ive already got a design in my head and here we go!
  20. I was so excited to get my shingles and bricks this morning when logging on and this was the horror I came to. And in fixing it and relighting it I answered all of my own questions. Thought it was worthy of sharing. I try searching the forums before posting things but it's a bit of mystery to be honest. I'll keep trying. XD
  21. Is it because I placed a grate in the chimney? (a resoundingly HUGE YES) I thought this was a great way to keep from stacking shingles thru the chimney, and it was. Never have I had an incident such as this with the beehive kiln but here I am. And YES. After fixing the kiln (I answered another of my questions in doing so with refractory bricks) and firing it up (eight stacks of peat and one of firewood (ANOTHER quandary solved)) I discovered my folly. Had I of recognized the signs; being no smoke coming from the stack, I could have averted this. Lesson learned and on to the next one.
