  1. Out of curiosity how did you fix it? Telling me how, will perhaps also be a valid answer for anyone else in the future, whom might accidentally end up with a similar issue. So they can look back to this post and know what to do.
  2. Who is he... That's the question that roams around inside the minds of many. Hidden amongst the merry trader folk, a distant hut may contain a figure you'd probably never want to meet.. Will he sell you fairly traded goods...? ... Or remains of the past visitor..?
  3. The front of the house, goat pen and bunny-proof farms with an integrated 'Emergency winter food' trap. And yes, the roof was an absolute nightmare and a half but I absolutely LOVE the new roofs.
  4. You mean be able to virtually place every single item on the ground, or on some sort of elaborate crafting table? Like... What was it called. The crafting table of Tinkers Constructs of MC? Or be able to dynamically interact with each craftable component? Sorry I'm not the brightest pea in the pot so I often miss the point and have to re-read things to get it.
  5. Ah, thank you for the confirmation. Out of curiosity.. Since what update have they begun spawning already harvested? If I remember correctly, they spawned ready to harvest in 1.14 something.
  6. Oh no no, I wouldn't say every single craft would need to be physically done on the ground or table, or something of the sort. Arguably that would at some point become too tedious if it's even for the little things. But for things like chopping, one could view the block like a crafting table that has an internal storage of one stack of a given item. As for turning logs into planks, we could think of a different 'crafting' station block. Instead of a log to chop firewood on.. You would use a wooden construct that's been used in the old medieval days of human civilization. A sawmill. In goes a stack of logs. Out comes a few stacks of planks. It could be operating via the use of rotational power, which is already implemented. Or, use it manually on an even more early game primitive version that's made of sticks and a log or two. Because by the looks of things posted in the suggestions, a frequently suggested feature is automating lots of crafts. The sawmill would for example need a long metal saw as part of its construction, similar to how the crusher needs heads.
  7. That's definitely odd. Especially if it's only affecting the new release. Might be something moderators need to look into then.
  8. The making planks with visually placing down the block sounds like a mod I played with in Minecraft. But there, you could also get planks, albeit in significantly smaller portions making it inefficient, with an axe via splitting as well. Thinking of the old mod in question, it also forced you to visually place down tool heads and add a rod to it while it was on the ground. I don't remember there being a grid at all, but i could be mistaken.
  9. It may have been that one, but i played with it back in 1.12 and 1.13. Though the one I played with did far, far more. It added burning pyres to keep wolves at bay, it increased wolf spawns and added "attract to carcass" to the wolf AI so you only had so much time to harvest the body before wolves came and took a share. You could pick up corpses because it was also compatible with carry capacity. You had a chance to harvest their fur for carpets and decoration.. Harvest various skulls.. You had to manually mine the remaining skeleton to get bones as it didn't naturally appear in the harvest grid. It also added naturally spawning brown clay and the lot.. It did quite a bit. But that mode, the one you showed me, looks a bit like it in terms of chopping.
  10. Well the mushrooms are still spawning, although significantly more difficult to spot because they are in their harvested state. So, without the cap. It looks like they either spawned that way, or some animal has already eaten it. (Which, in real life terms, does happen. Some animals eat forest mushrooms, especially the fly amanita. Since it acts as a natural de-wormer for animals. If that's not the case.. It's a bit odd that berry bushes spawn usually ready to harvest, but every single mushroom no matter the season, does not.
  11. Did you restart the world after you put in the new changes via the Worldconfig commands? It should promp you to restart the world in the messages. As for rams.. Anyone please, correct me if my thought is wrong, but i believe they will retaliate regardless of settings. If wolves and drifters and locusts still attack you on sight, after you have restarted the world.. Then I agree that's weird. If you've not restarted it, try that first and go to a different area with new creatures. See if the issue still persists because maybe since they've locked onto you, their AI won't update till they've forgotten about you.
  12. Not a problem. Happy to help! Enjoy building!
  13. You need an empty backpack slot and put the skep in that said slot. You can't put filled skeps in your hotbar, or inventory. Only empty skeps can be held in your inventory. Filled ones /sort of/ act like a backpack, without any actual slots for use.
  14. There was a mod several versions back that had a similar idea for certain crafts. I can't for the life of me remember what it was called and it had a ton of other features aside crafting, that are implemented even today in some degree. Basically there was a chopping block that you needed to add logs to, and then visually chop at the block to make firewood. It was aesthetically appealing. Another thing was a certain type of wall made of logs stacked atop one and other, like the type you'd see in a log cabin. But you needed to place the logs down and tie them together. Same idea, but also for slanted roofs. I think being able to craft in-game without a crafting grid gives some immersion as you have to physically do things to make something, rather than just put it in a grid and poop out new items. I wouldn't necessarily say get rid of the grid entirely.. But perhaps implement it as an option at the start of making a world? This way one part of a group that do like it, can use it. And the other group that doesn't like it, because grid crafting is quicker and easier, can still use the grid of old. This way you won't lose the interest of group B (The ones for the grid.) while sparking interest for group A (who like the immersive crafting).
  15. Hello all you fellow Vintarians! I hope you're all having a great day? So I've recently started playing the game again after having gotten a hardware upgrade and that leads me to try the new 1.15.7 update. Now I absolutely love the new changes and all so a big congratulations to the Vs team. Now my question is... After having found a forest I've been looking for mushrooms and bee hives. In previous updates I've been able to just walk into a newly found forest and harvest mushrooms as I see them. As for bee hives, I just listen to my surroundings until I hear one in a tree. With the new 1.15.7 update... All mushrooms seem to not grow. The temperature and season are seemingly enough to support their growth. I've visited the forest in both spring, summer and fall to make sure I wasn't messing things up or missing something obvious.. Every mushroom I stumble upon appears to be already harvested, but in my current playthrough, I've yet to actually harvest a single mushroom. So do either the animals now eat grown mushrooms or is there something wrong here? Temperatures are anywhere between 18 and 27 most of the time. Bees... I weirdly enough can't hear any more. I have my volume set to the point when I go into a forest, I almost become deaf from a wolf howl several blocks away. And yet when i harvest a tree, I magically get honeycombs dropping on my head and an angry bee hive chasing me. Has their sound become more quiet in the new updates or what? All answers and help is welcome, including hints and tips or tricks. Best regards, Windego.

    Cattle Grid

Ah, had to google up what an actual cattle grid was. Sorry on that part. I like the idea, but it sounds a lot like how a fence or gate would function. A block that entities can not pass over. Though I imagine it would be a bit difficult to implement without altering the AI of animals. Because with their current AI, they will press against a closed off fence gate but get nowhere because it's closed, ergo acting as a solid immovable object. I'm no coder, or modder, so I have technically no right to say how difficult it is, or is not. But i imagine it would have to do with the AI to make it work correctly. Or maybe, an invisible gate atop that visually looking grid? I've so far found a workaround to not having to constantly open and close the pen enclosure, and in turn possibly let a pig or goat escape because they're pressing against the gates... By placing two solid blocks into the fence line and adding stairs to it. So you just.. Hop over it. Takes away the risk of escaping animals, with the down side of it looking weird. But the grid sounds like a visually more appealing solution to that issue. I like it.
  17. Not sure if this bit of info is of any use here.. But at one point in the discord chat someone mentioned that animals that can retaliate after being hurt, will seek out the nearest player to get revenge. Even if they fell down from a certain height, or a different animal accidentally hurt them for whatever reason, they will try to get revenge on YOU whenever they see you. The "I hurt myself.. I blame YOU" phenomenon.
  18. For me there were a couple of rough starts which include some things mentioned above. From minuscule resources to spawning in large deserts with no food or scrubs to get any kind of tools. But my top two worst playthroughs, one of which i quit after dying more than seven times in the first day... 1# This one takes makes as the proverbial cherry on top. I spawned IN a large hole. It was about roughly 60 or so blocks deep and was connected to some caves. There was water at the very bottom, but you'd have to land perfectly in it to survive the fall I'd thought.. I was wrong. There was a single block of water atop a deep layer of lava. So the lava was masked by the water. Even if you'd have made it down, you would be cooked like some second degree human crock-pot dish. And if by some miracle I managed to descend down via the use of several blocks sticking out from the sides while falling, I would be met by a Bell and a couple of nightmare Drifters to turn me into a human shishkebab. I spawned there at the top, because the first layer was a suspended layer of sand. So once I accidentally jumped as I pressed on the space bar on accident. 2# The base of the cake, this one. I spawned in a desert area that was connected to more deserts and gravel mountains, and some lakes without cattails. No scrubs, aside the gravel mountains. But there were no berries, no wildlife, numerous hidden holes covered by sand and/or gravel layers that YES, I just /had/ to fall into while collecting flint and sticks. And as I finally managed to find some kind of dirt field with some berries, it was guarded by a family of 3 wolves and a pup. So I thought.. Nope. Let's try a different one.
  19. The game runs so amazing right now. And the new stiff! Dear lord it's epic.
  20. Do note that you can spawn-proof a given room or even a 1x2 box for temporal storms as a panic room. Placing straw bed on the ground blocks, so you have to squeeze your way into the box, will prevent even temporal storm drifters from spawning in your panic room.

    Food

I've yet to ever die of starvation in this game. I usually die of a surprise wolf ambush, drifters, a sand slide down a hellishly deep pit or a poorly calculated cave exploration. There are so many food options to consider and use. So many animals to trap in pits, crops to grow, bread to make and.. Pies. Oh...Lovely pies... But yes, like @Streetwindsaid. First few days are rough, sure, but not impossibly difficult either. Make pit traps and lure some animals in by poking them. With the amount of meat they would provide, you should never be out of food. And berry bushes. There are plenty of them and even the raccoons they attract can be hunted for food. By the time you start investing in refining your foods into meals and pies... You'll be swimming of meat and berries. Also.. Crop farms.
  22. As for crops... I've played on a relatively large server before I had to quit due to my bogus internet connections. If you plan your crop growths out correctly with the server time, you can at the very least hoard a decent amount of food before your next potential hiatus from the server. And if you don't have massive fields of several hundred blocks of farm land to upkeep... Maybe you can even strike a deal with a local neighboring player to keep an eye on your farm plot while you're away for.. I don't know... A cut of the profit. Having good reliable friends or even trustworthy business partners in servers can be of big benefit to you, and them.
  23. An alternative option to consider perhaps is the ability to actually freeze certain foods solid. Frozen foods won't spoil. Of course we're talking about grand-scale freezers packed with ice and such... But the concept is somewhat there with the cellars.
