Are there any plans for Level of Detail (LOD)?

I was on a mountain a few days ago overlooking some landscape when I nticed I cant see very far before it stops rendering the landscape (256 blocks), so I put it higher but of course then it ran slower.

So my question is, are there any plans to implement LOD over time somewhere? Meaning, you can put 1000 blocks view distance, but the quality of the render becomes very low res 200 blocks from you. As you walk around the render quality changes the closer you are so the illusion stays.

The game Boundless does this for one, and it works very well on my i5 4590, GTX 760. I will soon upgrade to a 5950x, RX 6700 XT and I'm curious what the performance difference will be tho... Will the foilage stutters go away?
