I am not a minecraft person. and i have passed up watching videos of VS in the past but one youtuber(DannyRothko) i watch for Icarus videos came out with a video back in August. I have got to say after that video i started watching "how to get started" and other tutorials on VS, and i finally had enough money to buy it back in September. It has been one of the best game purchase i have ever made. So Thank You Devs for making this wonderful game!!

I used to enjoy Minecraft, but MS is running it into the ground. It was bad enough that all mods have to be redone every new version, but then they started having 3-4 minor revisions every few months between the major updates, which also more often than not require recoding. To make it even worse they made changes to the datapack structure for no good reason I can see that required those to be redone, once again between minor updates.

I'm glad I found this game too, and that it has actual dev support for mods instead of having to try to hack around everything.

I played Minecraft for, I don't know, ten hours total? Something like that. It didn't hold my interest, and that was that.

Vintage Story is, hands down, my absolute favorite game I've ever played. Ever. I have over a thousand hours into it at this point, easily.

TOBG was much better around 10 years ago.  Once villager trading changed in 1.14 it went to cr@p.  A few months before I found this wonderful gift from the gaming gods I was describing a MC mod to my son that was almost identical to what VS is.  Additionally, I had not known about the TFC mod to MC when describing what I wanted out of TOBG.

my issue with minecraft is that it doesnt have a focus/a target audience.

why try promote environmentalism is the only way to play the game is to build factory farms and strip mine entire biomes.
why constantly try patch out automated farms when their official guide books teaches you how to build automated farms.
why try market to kids but then balance the game for try hard hardcore speed runners.
whats the point in added different mounts and selling merchandise that involves minecarts if eltrya kills off all reason for any of them to exist.
why are they so hell bent on chasing the scp horror game market this late into its relevancy.
why add so much redstone stuff which the redstone community never asks for or patch our its usefulness.
is the game meant to be educational or unlimited creativity?

for a game thats meant to be a sandbox it sure as hell rail roads you.

also the best difference between vs and mc imo is that on mc servers its way too easy for a actual 6 year old to dominate an entire server

Minecraft as a game used to be lovely, But vintage story is kind of like taking the best parts of old minecraft, like not knowing what you're doing and figuring things out yourself or with others, This game is just a lot more beautiful, not only visually, but functionally too, Unlike the former, you don't have to play the game modded to have a enjoyable experience, even vanilla vintage story is a blast.

I enjoy Minecraft, and I've had great fun in the past building servers with themed modpacks to play with my friends.

But what I was I adding? Umm... animal husbandry, expanded farming, immersive cooking....

I was also adding magic, so it wasn't all stuff I get from VS. I'm sure I'll want to go play Minecraft again at some point. I do agree that it has been built out in so many random directions at this point that it's just a mishmash. VC feels like an actual world, and that makes up for any particular MC feature that VS might not have (ok, I really love sea turtles and fishing up random magic items).

I spent so much time in Minecraft, played with the kids and made a server and everything. Never beat it, just played around and had fun. It became dull and unfun to me when they started adding stuff that didn't make it more fun or interesting. Yeah the bees were cute and all but it didn't make the game more compelling. Went back to Factorio and such for a long time.

I found Vintage Story a few days ago and have been playing every day since. It reminds me of the magic MC used to have, and it's teaching me patience and concentration. It looks better too. The cherry on top is how customizable it is for however I want to play. Can't wait to see what's in store! Best gaming purchase I made in years, plus the admins were ultra helpful when I had some install issues. Tops all around.
