GillyTweed
Hello, First post on here. I have skimmed about the last years worth of suggestions and haven't seen this, so I was wondering if pouches on belts could be used as a small inventory expansion? We have a belt slot anyway, and its primarily for aesthetic and a small warmth bonus, so to add a bit more functionality, I think adding a pouch that maybe adds one or two inventory slots could be useful. Perhaps if you have a belt, you could attach a basket or linen bag to it to increase storage, and later down the line, add a pouch once leather working is unlocked. Any thoughts on why this couldn't be implemented?
Maelstrom
First - Welcome to the forums! Next - your idea is basically implemented in the game with the reed handbaskets that are typically the first inventory expansion.
LadyWYT
Or instead of extra inventory slots, lean into the cosmetic route more heavily and allow certain items to be displayed on belts when not in use. That is, tools like hammers and pickaxes on toolbelts, swords on the Blackguard belt(or other equivalent), etc. Whatever the first appropriate item that's on the hotbar, and not currently in use. Well yes, but what I meant was in addition to that. One of my most common early game frustrations is that I don't have enough inventory space, so having an additional slot for a basket or bag, dependent on having a belt of course, would be useful in my opinion. Alternatively, maybe the ability to hook your lantern to the belt, simply to free up your off hand. Or if we just don't want to simply add slots, perhaps a place to hook tools like LadyWYT said for both functionality and a bit of aesthetic. Even if we just had a holster for a weapon. I suppose what I'm looking for is a way to carry things that are either used almost always (such as a lantern) or items that are used rarely depending on the situation (like a weapon)in a way that doesn't take away inventory space in the early game when space is at a premium. My mind just went from 'how do we make carrying things easier?' to 'more inventory space.'
Maelstrom
Weeelll... Again, welcome to VS. EVERYTHING is a resource and resource management is key to this game. When I say everything is a resource, I mean things like time, your satiation level and in this case - inventory. Carry on is a popular mod that allows you to throw a storage container on your back for additional carrying capacity. It does essentially what you're asking and only costs 24 reeds to craft a reed basket, which should be easy on day one (unless you go polar bear challenge).
