Hello,

I note the new (I think) world option "Prevent liquid source transport by Buckets".

My question is then, does this mean there will be no way to create new source blocks, or are the other ways to create them?

Thanks in advance

Haven't figured out any yet, though I've only given it a half-hearted try. Mostly, it was just easier to design my kitchen around where an existing source block was, and to fill in lakes to make farms.

Might want to check with Primitive Survival. (That's the one that does irrigation via clay vessels, right?) Something like that might be the longer term plan for vanilla. But encouraging. Player generated source blocks have to go away before water wheels can be in vanilla, and this is a step in that direction.

Well, waterwheels do sound awesome. Do player-generated source blocks get in the way of waterwheels? Because you could just build one anyway and move a source block to run it?

I do kind of like the Primitive survival style of irrigation. I'd prefer not to have to build out onto a lake every time I create a farm, but building a farm adjoining a lake seems more

I believe it means that you won't be able to fill a bucket and create another water block somewhere else should you empty it, although that only applies if you enable that option in your world. It's just there to add an optional challenge.

They probably do. I know in the modded version of the other block game, waterwheels can be an incredibly convenient power source for exactly that reason.

Not necessarily. One idea I've heard floated is having a different water source block that is capable of powering waterwheels--one that moves(unlike the still water we have now) and that specifically cannot be moved by the player. So you'd need to find one of those spots and build your stuff there in order to take advantage of it, which may or may not be a very good option depending on how one's world generates. As for why you might want to deliberately search for one of those spots anyway, despite having other power sources like windmills? Water flows at a steady rate and doesn't stop, whereas wind is quite variable.

Hi @bj0rn, I am trying to gather up posts/suggestion related to water mechanics, you might want to check out

I have also added you post to one of my overview list, to make sure we keep track of all the ideas:
