1.20, as in, the stable version of the current build?

1.20 is slated to release in around 1-3 weeks.

Aside from what's being added in 1.20(teased in the trailer)...yes, I would expect to see at least one major town and a couple of villages. As for the traders themselves, I don't expect them to actually move their wagons anywhere. As cool as it would be, it would be even more of a hassle for players to find the traders that have what they're looking for. The most update for them I would expect is a small model update, and possibly a creature or two tethered nearby that could believably haul their wagon.

Regarding a quest system...I definitely think we'll get more quests, though I'm not sure that they will be repeatable. I'm fairly certain that quests will probably be limited to the main storyline, with a few offshoots here and there for the world to react to the player and their choices. So choose carefully when you are presented with a choice! You may only get to pick one particular option from certain selections in a playthrough. As for repeatable actions...I expect most of the repeatable player interactions with NPCs will be trading goods or purchasing services, in addition to the standard repeat of certain information.

Haha, no, not at this time anyhow. Just really good at picking through what's currently in the game, the forums, and guessing at what's possibly coming next.

Is there anywhere to read up on the village / town stuff coming in 1.20? or was that a hidden feature they're not saying about until 1.20 stable release??

It's somewhat of a hidden feature, since it's a major story location and part of the player's adventure first, and a hub for select services second. There are probably some YouTube videos on it, though I'd also wager that those who are wanting something like what the VS Village mod does are probably going to be disappointed.

As for what the village is and what you can do there, here are my impressions:

Spoiler

Like I said, it's the main hub for the second story chapter, for the most part. It has several NPCs, and the buildings are nicely designed and decorated, but it's also rather small due to being a village and not a city proper(if such even exist in the world). The primary reason that the player is here, is to look for clues to solve the puzzle presented to them by the second story chapter, which depending on how you go about it will probably require talking to several of the villagers before you find the ones you're looking for. I'd say about half the villagers can give you clues, or just general information on the village, some history, and their professions, while the others are only able to introduce themselves and have nothing further to say(they might be fleshed out a bit more in the future).

As for goods and services...there are a few items that the player can sell, but for the most part you are buying goods, not selling them, if trading is to be accomplished. Bandages are available, though they are alcohol-soaked ones so while very effective they aren't really practical for taking with you. Iron equipment is sold by the blacksmith. Food is readily available, and there are several unique clothing items that can be purchased from various vendors. The herbalist will also sometimes sell flowers. Regarding other services, the barber can change your hairstyle, the innkeepers can rent you a room, and the blacksmith can repair your stuff, though currently the only one of those services that's actually implemented and functioning is the blacksmith's equipment repair. I presume the other services will be added in time for 1.20, but they may also be pushed back to a later update.

The only other thing of interest I can think of here, or perhaps person of interest, is the village bard. The bard plays some rather gorgeous music, in addition to providing some useful(although the accuracy is questionable) background information. Additionally, the player can share stories of their exploits to hear new songs, though I'm not entirely sure that feature is working yet. You can also only tell your stories once, so choose wisely how you tell your tale, as I'm guessing it will affect the song that you get.

One important thing to note is that the village operates under rules similar to the other story locations in the game: you cannot tamper with any of the blocks or items here, aside from opening/closing doors.

On the spoiler post.... Im not expecting it to behave like the modded village XD, but the features that you said if truly are in it?
MORE than enough and that adds SO much life into the game, and exciting new features (which can also used by modders to make even more crazy mods)

I will note that some of those features only have placeholders right now--they aren't functional yet. I'm not sure if they'll be finished in time for 1.20, or be released in 1.21 or later after more polish.
