Ylshava Posted January 8 Report Posted January 8 I had a piglet wander in my encampmant and made a pen around it. i just let it wander around until it grew into a sow. I looking around for a male pig to have a supply of meat going in the winter without succes. Now after an uneventfull month or 4. i woke up one day to 3 fully grown sows. and one is even pregnant... There were no piglets before that or anything. just 2 additional sow magically appeared.
traugdor Posted January 8 Report Posted January 8 Are you playing on a multiplayer server? If so, maybe someone decided to help you out. If not, then the only logical explanation is that your sow was joined by two others, one of which is pregnant. This makes even more sense if you have your pen setup with dirt on one side so that a male can easily follow you in.
LadyWYT Posted January 8 Report Posted January 8 Welcome to the forums! My best guess is that there's a spawn point for pigs nearby, and another pig or two spawned in the pen(or managed to climb in--you might want to check the barriers). I'm assuming you have a food trough with feed in the pen as well; livestock needs to be at a good weight in order to breed, and the females also need to have eaten 10 portions before they'll mate(assuming they're otherwise ready to mate). The male animal doesn't actually need to be in the same pen with the females, to my knowledge; he just needs to be within a 10 block radius or so in order to breed. Now if you haven't been feeding your pigs, or there's no male anywhere nearby, then yeah, it's rather odd to have one of the sows somehow pregnant. At that point, I'd suspect some sort of weird bug, or a mod issue if you're playing with mods.
Ryan Thomas Posted January 8 Report Posted January 8 My guess is a spawn point is nearby. I have chickens spawning in my pigpens, rabbits spawning in my gardens; I like to think of it as gifts from the gods. 1

I realized that i had turned my open plain into a forest. The soil turned into forest floor and up to that point ive never had a single wolf enter my camp or be anywhere near it. now I had several run in with wolves and had to heared a lot of wolf whining(?) (forgot the english word) which also never heard near my base in over my year and a half world. so I think that the boat load of trees that I planted may have altered the spawn points.
