limpstringcheese Posted April 23, 2025 Report Posted April 23, 2025 (edited) Hi yall, im very new to vintage story, i have about 14 hours in the game and was playing on 1.20.7 until 1.20.8 came out, updated my save and no joke IMMEDIATELY the second i logged back in, my save was covered in monsters in broad daylight(my base is in an open clearing with woods nearby) drifters and bowtorn. I looked on here and there was the 1.20.9 patch and i downloaded it, but it did not fix it, they dont despawn when i leave the area, and there is truly so many monsters there is one around every single corner in the world. I kill them and more spawn. Does anyone know if it could be anything else? its super discouraging Edit: I've played both with temporal instability on and off. makes no difference. first world i mentioned had woods nearby. new world is a massive open prairie and there is no joke 8 monsters on top of my house at noon. Yes I have, I will even run about 3 in game hours travel one way, do something else for a few in game hours, come back and the same 3 drifters stuck in my fenced off farm are still stuck there. would the fence make them not despawn? 1

No, people on my server use very similar fencing to make sure they despawn. Think country lanes splitting pastures. But I'm still running 1.20.7. I just put 1.20.9 on my single player machine, but I have not had the opportunity to play yet.
KXX Posted April 24, 2025 Report Posted April 24, 2025 1.20.9 update brings tons of monsters spawning in braod daylight around your location. as soon as the 10 day no monster spawn ended I woke up to dozens of drifters and bowtorn are surrounding my house. As soon as you walk outside your hit with bowtown bolts and drifters just spawning everywhere around you. Not sure if mods I have are causing the problem, but they certainly never have for any previous versions.
Rudy Gutierrez Posted April 24, 2025 Report Posted April 24, 2025 (edited) I have the same occurrence of rust monsters spawning midday in my game. If you open the drifter file and compare it to an older one, under spawning conditions the older file has listed MaxTimeOfDayLight as the light level restriction vs the newer files OnlyBlockLight rule. This may be why monsters are spawning all around as there is no torches around rifts to prevent spawns. Probably also why they're not really despawning as much Shiver and Bowtorn files are the same result. Bell file is unaffected it seems Edited April 24, 2025 by Rudy Gutierrez new info 1
