Didn't see anything for it really on the roadmap, and nothing mentioned in the last dozen or so sets of patch notes that I could find. Loving the game overall, but the spooky factor really went downhill when I checked the wiki and realized there were like two non-wildlife hostile mobs in the entire game.

Two of the three "monster" mob types just got added in 1.19, so, they just DID that, and then there's this oceans-of-bowtorns problem that either got fixed a couple weeks ago, or else STILL isn't fixed and people are just turning off the temporal storms to avoid it. I dunno which. So definitely in process. Also they did show off a model of a crocodile a couple months ago, which is kind of on the border between "critter" and "monster" to my mind. Crocodiles, eek. Only worse thing to fight would be an elephant with the ability to grab you from (spear range + 1) blocks and pull you over to the stompy feet.

That said, they're mostly prioritizing the story content in these past few releases. Decided there's finally enough game mechanic, time to write some actual game. There are apparently some boss things you can play with if you do the Resonance Archive and stuff.

Ah, missed the bowtorn & shiver - was going off of the creatures page on the wiki, thanks for that! Good to know on the story content - I haven't gotten too far yet, still firmly in the copper age, so no idea what the resonance archive is yet, but looking forward to all that.

From what I have heard, the wiki page doesn't always have accurate information. Some entries are missing, and it apparently rarely gets updated. As Michael said, the Shiver and Bowtorn were only recently added, and I am sure at least a few more will be added over time.

5 (Drifter, Bowtorn, Locust, Shiver, Bell) plus bosses.

There are mob mods, however.

6.

I argue that Sawblades are another mob since they have a different anatomy and attack than locusts; but I suspect you put those in with the weaker Locust category.
