I've been super inspired by the recent autumn colours coming through here in Scotland and by the hauntingly beautiful tones of vintage story.

So I decided to paint this, Titled "The Last Sunset" for obvious reasons... it gouache paint just on a sketch pad, took me a few hours.

It has influences of cryptid sightings, things like pale crawlers, wendigo and skin walkers. Wanted to capture that horror of first seeing a shiver crawling through the undergrowth in the dark. And the realisation that if you can see it... it can see you...

Hope you enjoy,

And be careful out there, especially now the nights are growing darker, and they are awakening again...

The lighting gives it that cozy feel of a Thomas Kinkade...and then you notice the shiver in the bushes. 😂

That is a hallmark of excellent horror.   Everything is fine and beautiful and cozy.  And then you see the one thing that is totally out of place.  Horrifically out of place.
