Zane Mordien Posted October 6, 2025 Report Posted October 6, 2025 So when did these particles start showing up around lore books when they are placed on the ground? I just started a new playthrough and I swear these don't exist in my 1.20 playthrough that I haven't updated to 1.21.
Facethief Posted October 6, 2025 Report Posted October 6, 2025 They’re certainly odd. Probably something to do with lore book bugs, the adult form of rusty gear worms. 1
Echo Weaver Posted October 6, 2025 Report Posted October 6, 2025 I only just got some lore books in my current game, and I was surprised by the particles too. They look cool, but they fill up the space so much that I had to move my lore books into a cubbyhole so that my whole early game hovel wasn't filed with them. I have no idea if they're new. In my primary game, my lore books are on bookshelves, which I can't build right now in my stone age game. I assumed that was why I'd never seen the particles.

LadyWYT Posted October 6, 2025 Report Posted October 6, 2025 If I'm recalling correctly, 1.21 added particles to lore items that could be interacted with, so that said items are easier for players to notice. I would think in the case of lore books though, the particles would disappear once they have been read, so it could be a bug, or perhaps an oversight. 1

If I saw that while exploring a ruin, it would be very useful. It definitely continues after the book is read now, so as you say maybe a bug? The particles look cool but would need to be way more subtle to keep from filling up the room with particles.
Zane Mordien Posted October 7, 2025 Author Report Posted October 7, 2025 They definately need to go away after the book is read.
ifoz Posted October 7, 2025 Report Posted October 7, 2025 It's a bug/oversight yeah, already on the github bug tracker. 3
Drawn Posted October 9, 2025 Report Posted October 9, 2025 I use them for shiny particles in my aquarium 2
