fromtia Posted October 6, 2025 Report Posted October 6, 2025 So, I'm searching for Galena and not having a lot of luck. I know I ought be looking in sedimentary rock areas and that I can find surface deposits, but can I also find larger, deeper pockets with the pro-pick?

I would keep looking in sedimentary rock layers for surface deposits. I can't recall having ever seen deep lead deposits. In any case, sometimes you might have to look a while before finding an area where surface deposits of lead spawn, but when they do occur, there tend to be several in the area. 1
Zane Mordien Posted October 6, 2025 Report Posted October 6, 2025 I read the title of the post and I was wondering, how you could not find Galena since it's everywhere... but a deep deposit changes things. I've honestly never looked for one. They must exist. I can't exactly ever remember hitting one, but I wouldn't even stop to mine it out, since I am never looking for it after the first little bit I find on the surface. Good luck! 1
Solution Bruno Willis Posted October 6, 2025 Solution Report Posted October 6, 2025 I've found deep deposits, and they're barely larger than surface deposits. If you're good with a pro-pick, they're a decent thing to look for. They seem to generate kind of high up. I've only bothered when I've got a Galena note while prospecting for something else, and it's usually been kind of difficult to actually hit the deposit, because they're so small. Persistence and having plenty of pro-pick durability is key. 1
