how do I make wattle and daub slabs

I've seen several vanilla builds use them, but the only way I was able to make them was through chiseling, is there any other way to make them? (pic is what I'm trying to make vs what i've made)

Isn't chiseling vanilla? It's the only way I've ever seen them made.

Yes, vanilla/base game has chiselling.  QP Chisel mod makes chiselling much, MUCH easier and quicker.   I find it to be well balanced as well.

Maybe they are using a mod that lets you easily create slabs from blocks? That seems easier than chiselling for standard variants of a block.

Incidentally, unrelated but related, I've just found this mod and I think my life is changed - I do a lot of paths:

Finally, if you're working with a lot of wattle and daub, you may also want to consider a mod which makes switching between the variants easier (I haven't used this one, but it looks good) eg: Craftable wattle and daub
