animal husbandry Can you breed different species of goats?

So I have 3 Female Valois goat and 1 Male Alpine Ibex(They are both classified as goats on the wiki) all well fed, all female goats are "ready to mate". Am I wasting my time waiting for them to breed? or does it just take more time than I think for them to get pregnant?

The male has also been fed? Usually if male is fed and female is "ready to mate" and they're physically close (others do fancier containment, but I prefer to put them in the same pen as if they were real creatures), then the female just instantly becomes pregnant. I'd've thought you'd be able to mate them, but maybe not....

They are all in the same pen and and both the male and females are well fed, does winter affect breeding in anyway?

The only thing that affects breeding is female status, proximity to male of the same animal type (swine, fowl, etc).   
Seasons and different generations do not matter.

It seems that the different goat breeds does matter though.

Yeah I actually stumbled across a male Valois just now. As soon as I got him inside the pen the females became pregnant, So no a Apline Ibex can't breed with a Valois goat

Makes sense. You can interbreed dogs because they're all technically the same species. Inter-species hybrids like a mule are rare, and always born infertile.
