The Law Payton Posted November 19, 2025 Report Posted November 19, 2025 i was thinking, why arent potatoes or tomatoes in the game? i feel they would fit it great for the most part!, as potatoes could work as a great extra food and also VODKA and tomatoes for a stew maybe, like make a juice and then use it for stews 2
Entaris Posted November 19, 2025 Report Posted November 19, 2025 Likely because they are New World crops, same reason we don't have corn.Â

Or rather, poor reasoning. Cassava and amaranth are both new world crops. The developers seem to have tried to add bell peppers at some point, and they're also new world crops. I have to imagine that when they get peppers figured out, they'll probably add tomatoes too. 2

Same for pumpkins, although what they considered a pumpkin back then versus what's considered a pumpkin isn't necessarily the same thing. For real though, pineapples were THE thing to have at a party, if you were anyone of status. Not for eating, just to have, because it was so difficult to actually acquire one(to the point pineapple rentals were apparently a business). Although in fairness, I didn't go dig through all the sources on this, but it does seem to be legit.  53 minutes ago, The Law Payton said: i was thinking, why arent potatoes or tomatoes in the game? i feel they would fit it great for the most part!, as potatoes could work as a great extra food and also VODKA and tomatoes for a stew maybe, like make a juice and then use it for stews In any case, welcome to the forums! While tomatoes and potatoes are a New World crop, I don't think they'd be particularly out of place in the game, especially since things kind of got...scrambled...thanks to certain events. We already have some other fauna native to the Americas, such as raccoons and bighorn sheep, so it's not that much of a stretch.
hstone32 Posted November 20, 2025 Report Posted November 20, 2025 Whenever I see this topic (for some reason, potatos and tomatoes always go together) I always think of this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKbJLCZsIOA 1

Slam Posted November 26, 2025 Report Posted November 26, 2025 I’m not sure if they have any plans to add tomato’s, with berry bushes existing, there isn’t a big reason grow your own fruits, maybe they’ll add more fruits plants after berry bushes get potential reworked. Also fruits such as tomato’s (yes they are called vegetables but they are fruits) produce throughout the year, rather then just one harvest with vegetables, which is believe bell peppers were an issue to the dev team.
