Calmest_of_lakes Posted January 11 Report Posted January 11 I was wondering what the proper way to backup server data on a Linux host is I discovered that VS doesnt seem to backup the world or corruptable data (like player data) OOTB I have a few questions in this regard: a. Is there a proper or intended way to backup server data b. If not, what would the most convenient and reliable method. I assume a crontab c. What folders r files need to be backed up
Dilan Rona Posted January 11 Report Posted January 11 Stop the vintage story server first. Locate the save file that the server uses, and make a copy. (for example copy my_server_world.vcdbs to my_server_world.vcdbs.backup) Start the vintage story server up again. That may not be the most efficient, but that does work till you can get a better manager for the task.

I just want to be safe rather than sorry.
Dilan Rona Posted January 12 Report Posted January 12 That happens to be the main save file, and for the most part, all you need. You could make a backup of the contents of the Maps folder as well I suppose, but let me spin up a local server on my side, and see what files it generates before I give wrong information.
Calmest_of_lakes Posted January 12 Author Report Posted January 12 Thank you. I appreciate it very much
