Sakya Posted Tuesday at 09:52 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 09:52 PM Just downloaded the new test version, loaded creative to check how things work out. Only to, sadly, realize that no matter what plank and support beam types you use, you end up with same birch-oak looking wheel. Same for nails - used Molybchalcos nails for black finish, instead came off iron-y It'd really be amazing if we could get different waterwheels based off the materials used - doesn't have to be unique models, just unique textures! After all, unlike Windwheels, the wood used in the Waterwheel is the focus here, not the giant sails.
LadyWYT Posted Tuesday at 10:17 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 10:17 PM I wouldn't mind it, but I think it would also mean the other machinery would need a similar update in order to keep it consistent. Otherwise it'll look a little odd if the waterwheel is maple-colored while all the axles and whatnot are oak. Adding wood variants for every piece of machinery though sounds like it could be rather frustrating when it comes to building machines, because then the player ends up with parts that don't stack and mismatched colors. Thus I'm more inclined to keep the machinery as simple oak textures. 1

Oddly enough the waterwheel (and windmills) use the "generic wood" texture, rather than the normal oak. It's strange, since other mechanical power parts use the normal debarked oak texture. I'd actually really like if waterwheels and windmills used debarked oak, so they could blend in to other connected devices a little better. 2
Shoom Posted yesterday at 07:27 PM Report Posted yesterday at 07:27 PM I wouldn't mind having aged variants of machinery, maybe as parts of ruins, could be less effective than their crafted counterparts if functional.
