JMOXero Posted March 23 Report Posted March 23 I am currently running a server on experimental build 1.22-rc2 and wanted to know if I could use the same world on the full release of 1.22?

From the rc1 news post: Quote Can I start playing 1.22 now? We are decently confident that your old worlds will not break. Please wait with upgrading your old worlds to 1.22 until we fixed newly introduced worldgen issues. Even so, we highly recommend making a backup copy of your 1.21 worlds before upgrading the game to 1.22. If you want to be on the safe side, wait until 1.22.0 stable. And if you tried out our earlier pre-releases, continuing a 1.22.0-pre world is not recommended. Basically, if the world was created in a 1.22-rc version, it's probably fine to keep playing until stable. If a world was created in a 1.22-pre version, it's likely to have issues upgrading and not recommended for continued play. Worlds created in prior stable versions shouldn't be upgraded to 1.22 until the stable version releases, though more adventurous players can still give it a try provided they make a backup of the world first. 3
Thorfinn Posted March 23 Report Posted March 23 @LadyWYT has the correct answer. There are several things that changed in worldgen that will be different, for example, there will be fewer rapids in the stable. There may be issues in some of the story locations. Anything you've already explored will not have any procedural dungeons. But if history is any guide, your world will work fine, though it may have some "jaggies" at the border of your explored world. Whatever smoothing they build in will be based on the last stable release, not any of the pre-releases. If there are any such, and you care, you can always go in and clear them up. 1
