Heegrim Posted March 24 Report Posted March 24 I feel like Blackguard needs a large stomach trait that gives +500 max satiety (+33%). I like the increased hunger rate trait but it would be nice if I could go out and not have to eat second and third lunch so I don't start starving in the middle of the day.

I disagree, as that essentially renders the hunger penalty ineffective. The main balance point of Blackguard is that the class has the weakest early game in exchange for the strongest late game. The extra 30% hunger isn't really that bad, provided the player knows what they're doing when it comes to food supply, and just means that Blackguards will tend to prefer heavier meals like meat pie/meat stew, or otherwise be inclined to carry more food around in general. 22 minutes ago, Heegrim said: I like the increased hunger rate trait but it would be nice if I could go out and not have to eat second and third lunch so I don't start starving in the middle of the day. The good news is that there is a mod that allows you to do this! https://mods.vintagestory.at/expandedstomach Very nice utility, but it doesn't come without some potential drawbacks. The config has some preset difficulties for players who want to just jump right into playing, but the config also allows the player to adjust most things about the mod if they wish.

My solution to this problem is to always bring snacks (crock of food) with me if I get hungry. Once you have farms and animals this is trivial. Do you not bring (enough) food at all? This may be a question of adaptation to the problem, rather than game needing change. But there is always a mod for it, like we use XLib Skills. But I've always seen Blackguard as a sorta gamble, wreck me early game so that I can be awesome later. What do you think?
Vexxvididu Posted March 26 Report Posted March 26 I basically don't leave my base without some sort of snack.... anything from a pile of berries to a few bowls of soup or a pie. This is usually a good policy even when not playing as a black guard. I don't think an expanded stomach is really necessary as you can just bring food with you. I don't think expanding the stomach totally negates the hunger penalty since you'd still need to eat more total food. One argument against expanding the stomach is that real athletes and body builders often DO need to eat more often than regular people. I remember Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson saying he doesn't eat much more than most people in one sitting, but eats often. 1
