Dunno wether this is a feature of the game or a mod, but apperantly, if you burn down your crops (totally intentional and not because you accidentially forgot to fireproof your pit kilns) the soil nutrients get a boost of about 15%. its pretty neat, perhaps ill burn down my fields more often now

It's the wood ash; it is a source of nutrients: https://fieldreport.caes.uga.edu/publications/B1142/best-management-practices-for-wood-ash-as-agricultural-soil-amendment/

eta: dead plants would become compost, a different source of nutrients... but burnt plants become ash, not compost.

I might have posted this in the wrong forum section. it was less a question and more of an awed observation. this game is amazing. If a Mod would be so kind to move this to the Discussion Section please?
