i found this on the internet and thought it would be cool in the game!!!

Is prickly pear safe to eat?

Yes, you can eat the entire prickly pear cactus (Opuntia), including both the bright red/green fruits (tunas) and the flat pads (nopales). The fruit is sweet, tasting like a mix of raspberry and melon, while the pads taste like tangy green beans. Crucially, you must remove the tiny, hair-like spines (glochids) from both parts before consuming to avoid mouth and skin irritation. Opuntia species are the most cold-tolerant of the lowland cacti.

good for some extra food into the early cold times while stuff is dying from low temps this can give some edibles for a bit longer.

having another edible cactus would be nice to add to our gardens. they also have flowers too so can also at times feed the bees. i would suggest that we have some type of LEATHER or HIDE GLOVES to harvest these cuz they got spines and cannot be just stuffed into the mouth as is right from the plant.

maybe let us put them in pots to as either cosmetic plants or just cuz it looks cool. they are not super tall i think so less that a sunflower in height.  1 and a half blocks high sounds about right for in game size i believe. that or have it spread like the pumpkin cuz it kinda takes over an area if left alone so a border probably is needed to keep it in check. still it would fit the game well i believe.

It depends...they can get pretty big in the right conditions.

In any case, I'd like to see them in the game too, as well as just a cactus overhaul in general. The saguaro cacti are a little too small and too similar to the other block game, and cacti in general should hurt the player if stepped on. Though the latter is probably better suited for a status effect system.

Dragonfruit would also be a good addition here, since the parent plant is also a type of cactus. There's also agave, which isn't a cactus, but is a desert plant used to make alcohol. Yucca is similar and can be used for food or medicinal purposes, among other things.

"It depends...they can get pretty big in the right conditions." hence why i said to have them in a patch like we do for pumpkins. that way they are sort of contained in a fenced off area.

also yes to ALL of the other plants you mentioned. i will add them to the list up there and REF you for them.
