i found this on youtube and looked it up. i think it would be a great addition to the game. Yacón Plant Yacón (Smallanthus sonchifolius) is a perennial plant from the Andes known for its sweet, crisp, apple-like tubers, which are rich in prebiotics (FOS) and have a taste similar to a mix of apple, watermelon, and celery. Above ground, it resembles a sunflower, producing edible storage tubers and smaller propagation rhizomes. It's grown in well-drained, organic-rich soil and is used as a healthy snack, in salads, or juiced, with potential benefits for gut health and blood sugar. Plant characteristics Appearance: Looks like a sunflower with large leaves; stems can be green or reddish. Tubers: Two types: large, sweet storage tubers (edible) and smaller propagation rhizomes (for planting). Flavor: Sweet and juicy, often compared to a mix of apple, watermelon, and celery. Growing conditions Soil: Prefers well-drained, organic-rich soil; benefits from compost and potassium, not excessive nitrogen. Sun: Full sun is ideal. Hardiness: Hardy in USDA zones 5-10, but can be grown in cooler climates. Planting: Plant rhizomes after the last frost; space plants about 0.5 meters apart. Care: Mulch well to suppress weeds and protect developing roots; it's drought-tolerant and generally pest-free. Harvesting and storage Harvest after the first hard frost. Separate the large storage tubers from the smaller rhizomes. Cure the storage tubers for about two weeks in a cool, dark place (around 15°C/60°F) to develop sweetness. Store cured tubers in a cool, dark place (5-10°C/40-50°F) in a crate with a blanket or in sand to prevent moisture loss. Uses and benefits Culinary: Eaten raw (like an apple), juiced, baked, or used in salads.

i was thinking that too. maybe make a chest or a 2xchest and put the glacier ice chunks in it. this will slightly decrease the space in it for food but if its the 2xchest then 1block of glacier ice per 8 food slots seems reasonable to me. after all chest freezers do exist. also if its in the cellar the food will last even longer cuz the preservation bonuses compound with location and container. maybe if made with metal it works even better.https://chestfreezercoldplunge.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/GC-Custom-Blue-Pool-Liner-UK.1-1024x768.jpghttps://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/64/Iceboxes.jpg/250px-Iceboxes.jpgA. Norwegian icebox. The ice was placed in the drawer at top. B. Typical Victorian icebox, of oak with tin or zinc shelving and door lining. C. An oak cabinet icebox that would be found in well-to-do homes. i really think we could have something like these in game.
