Right now there is no downside to living in hot climates.   I understand it's lagging behind dealing with cold but I think it should be moved up in priority for future releases.
I understand if you don't want to deal with thirst but overheating and heat exhaustion are real threats.
Suitable clothing helps keep you cooler in hot climates.

What do you mean we cant run around in Gambeson all day? Heat!?! Sweat!?! Honestly at the end of the day you could squeeze my Gambeson and idd fly out like I was oiled up.

I like the realism but people will hate this. Having to dress appropriately, only using combat armor for combat and not daily wear!?!
What you guys are cooking up here is a very sour and bitter pill that nobody wants to swallow. Nobody wants to juggle armor in your bags when not in combat.

Status effect system will probably fix this. Maybe next update?

Speaking of Status Effects, I hope this will include the cure. Like bathing and medicine. I would love to make soap so my team-mates wont be stinky and disease ridden.

Oh I'm sure they will, however, I think that's also where armor might be a fair exclusion from the penalty list for gameplay reasons. The player shouldn't roast to death just because they decided to wear armor into battle(although heat exhaustion/stroke was a real concern in some cases), but I think it's a fair ask of the player to wear lighter clothing underneath if the weather is hot, rather than wear their finest furs in the tropics.

Though I do want to note that Vintage Story is fairly realistic, in that it's not necessarily a good idea to wear armor all the time, even gambeson.

I'm sure it will. It doesn't make sense to impose harsh status effects on the player, without some way to remedy the problem.

I already do this, heck I bring armor with me often, there’s only 4 times when you need armor.

1. Temporal storms.

2. Caving/dungeoning, not strip mining.

3. hunting animals, which if your good, you don’t need for most animals.

4. Working at night at medium or higher activity.

The only times you benefit to wearing armor all the time is if accidentally come face to face with a wolf or a bear or maybe fall down into a cave full of locusts. All other times I will have reasonable time equip it before hand.

then again, your talking about gabison, which I guess is the only exception with its minimal downsides, especially if it’s tailored gabison. There’s also that bear armor for similar reason and leather armor, NO DOWNSIDE. I’d be willing to bet, with enough nutrition, and shield, I face tank a bear and live (probably not).

but yeah just forget what I side, basically only applies to the metal armors and wood. And this about heat, soooooo does not apply, but I am a sane person who knows to juggle armor, so yeah… 😁

changing the logic of surface spawning rust creatures to only spawn at night would be helpful,

as well as changing the manner in which bears spawn so they're not as random
