UnHatapon Posted May 9 Report Posted May 9 The thing is that, when you first join a world, there is a message in the chat that tell you when is the next temporal storm, but if you quit and join again you don't have the message that tell you it. I don't know if its by design or not but it would be cool to have a message when you join or someting in the environment info for it 2
Byrnorthil Posted May 10 Report Posted May 10 If you have op you can always use the command /nexttempstorm. But I'm pretty sure the fact that this is an op command tells us that you're not supposed to be able to tell for future storms. They are also somewhat random (10-15 days by default) so they are supposed to be able to catch players by surprise. So, I suspect this isn't going to be a planned feature until/unless storms get reworked. If you're on a singleplayer world or have op on your server you can of course feel free to check the remaining time with the command. If you're on a server you don't control, I guess you gotta write it down in real life
Lanceleoghauni Posted May 14 Report Posted May 14 I could see maybe some kind of jonas tech "unwinding clock" or something to detect oncoming instability. By the time you could make it you wouldn't need it, of course. But I still like the idea of diagetically being able to track that information and maybe some kind of visual rift activity meter on the machine itself could be cool. 2

A Jonas tech storm clock would be a great end game goal and be very useful for getting a good idea of when the next storm is due to arrive, especially on worlds you haven't played in a while. It would also be a more immersive way to handle it, in addition to keeping the suspense up for the earlier portions of the game. 1

Yeah, for a game all about gears, there is a severe lack of clocks. Some kind of rift activity sensor would be cool too (maybe it could predict the future activity level). It shouldn’t be too expensive so it is still accessible early to mid game. Maybe just a temporal gear and some brass rods/plates. I think it would also be cool to have a world setting that removes the date and time in the character panel. Craftable sundials would be awesome and this would also incentivize building megaliths to track the date through the position of the sun. 1
