Wigglepuff Posted May 10 Report Posted May 10 I've looked all over but I haven't been able to find any topics about the new travertine stone. The wiki isn't updated yet either. I've probably been in 2 dozen limestone caves at this point but have yet to find it. Has anybody found some, and if so what height/biome?
LadyWYT Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 Welcome to the forums! Honestly, I keep forgetting travertine exists. 1
EnbyKaiju Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 I'm currently on the lookout for travertine. I figure it's got a similar kind of spawning rarity in limestone that marble does in slate. i.e. not impossible to find but you're gonna have to get pretty lucky. So the best bet is going to be find either a bunch of limestone mountains, or islands if you're in a more water-based world, and go around the edges till you find some. Hopefully we both find some because I've got some plans! 2

Do note that there seems to be a bug with one of travertine's generators (#9784) which would allow it to generate in small quantities in slate and phyllite if fixed, and some travertine blocks are possibly missing (#9430). Barring that, travertine indeed spawns in a way very similar to marble, currently only in limestone at any height, and it's also very rare - it's less common than marble in isolation, albeit I'd have to check how common limestone itself is compared to slate and phyllite. I can only wish you luck, because you're gonna need a lot of it, especially if you have a large travertine build in the plans. Edited Friday at 06:00 AM by MKMoose 2
EnbyKaiju Posted Friday at 05:45 AM Report Posted Friday at 05:45 AM (edited) Yatta!! On 5/11/2026 at 9:10 AM, Wigglepuff said: Has anybody found some, and if so what height/biome? I went on a mission to find travertine and after a few little outings I struck metaphorical gold!! (as well as all the literal gold I dug up while I was looking around) The process was similar to the same I do for marble hunting, which is just find a desert of the right kind of stone (slate for marble, limestone for travertine) and go either circling mountains or delving into shallow caves till I find it. This was the first naturally occurring stuff I've found and it was relatively close to the surface in a desert I'd been investigating. I wouldn't say there's castle-level amounts here in my first find, but there's definitely at least a hundred blocks here (the main layer is about 10x10 blocks), which will be more than enough to make the bricks & tiles I want for a rather delightful treasury build I have planned. So here's my advice on find it: 1) go into creative and place a block of travertine next to a block of limestone. It's kinda like finding clay in that you need to train your eye up a bit to notice the difference) 2) go back to your main game and find a decent sized limestone desert 3) start delving into every nook and cranny you can find. (I think this was my 20th or so trip underground in the desert) 4) don't give up! And good luck to everyone on your travertine adventure! It is a really pretty looking stone when you've got it in brick form, and it pairs well with a lot of wood types. Update: after quarrying out a lot of the travertine I easily pulled 2 stacks of blocks out of it, with plenty left in the deposit. The conversion rate is pretty much 1-1 with bricks (each block is 4 bricks, 8 bricks makes 2 brick blocks) that is a very comfortable amount in one haul. So no, not a castle worth, but plenty for a decent sized building. Edited Friday at 06:26 AM by EnbyKaiju 3
