DerpyEinstein Posted May 27 Report Posted May 27 I died while trying to kill a boar, and the game lagged really badly. When I respawned, I was under the ground, and my character was spazzing and randomly shifting in directions. I could not do anything other than open menus and rotate the camera, which was stuck looking at the ceiling of the cave I was in. I saved and closed the game. Then closed the client and reopened it, and I was still underground, spazzing out. I typed /kill into the chat, which killed me, which temporarily fixed the issue. But now, at random intervals, or I guess if I get too close to my grave marker, I am once again whisked away underground and experience the same issue. There's no consistency on when it happens or why. I'm just trying to learn how to play, and I'm having to deal with this, which isn't very fun. I don't know how to fix this issue. It's happened about 8 times now. And no combination of saving and quitting or restarting the game has made the issue go away 100%. I just have moments of rest before it happens again. Maybe it's tied to the boar, and I'm getting too close to the boar, which is roaming around? Also, I tried making a new world, but I spawned on a floating island with no way down, and every time I respawned, I spawned back on top of the floating island, so I was stuck on the floating island or an adjacent floating island 60 blocks in the air. And then I made another world, and I was stranded on a small island with an endless ocean and no clay. I don't really understand if this is the intended playing experience. It just seems like the one save where I've made any progress in learning the ropes, I've been softlocked to teleport under the map. And trying to make a new world softlocks me to a purgatorial state of no progression to be had. This is making me want to refund the game, as this is not very fun. The attached clip is out of context, but basically, this was me heading back after /killing myself at one point and being teleported back underground. I don't know where else to report this because I don't know anybody else who plays this game. 2026-05-27 14-19-50.mp4
Vafthrudhnir Posted May 31 Report Posted May 31 That's such a weird bug... Are you using any mods? What version are you playing? Have you managed to resolve it? Maybe try reinstalling the game? I figure something must've gotten corrupted.

Sounds like you may have encountered some kind of bug, though if you are playing with mods it could be a mod issue. If it's the vanilla game I would report the issue over on the bug tracker, and then start a new world as your current world file may be corrupted and I'm not sure that it's fixable. If the issue happens again on a new world, then you may wish to reinstall the game, as it's possible something in the game files itself has been corrupted. In the event you're using mods, the general method of troubleshooting, if there is no obvious culprit, is to disable them all and then re-enable them one by one, testing each as you do so until the issue resurfaces. However, with issues that are difficult to reproduce(as this one might be), that may not be the most useful option. One thing to check is to make sure that your mods have been updated for the game version that you're playing; older mods sometimes work on newer versions but there's no guarantee that they will. For 1.22 it's especially important to check, since there were some changes to the code and a lot of older mods will no longer function correctly. This isn't the intended playing experience. Unfortunately, it's just really bad luck with spawn. You might want to write down the world seed(the one with the floating islands) and report it over on the bug tracker as well, at least assuming you still have the world file in question. One thing to check here is your world generation settings, as changing things from defaults can sometimes have unintended consequences. Notably, increasing water coverage and decreasing land coverage tend to result in more island spawns that may or may not actually be viable to play.

I have managed to resolve it, but I have no clue what the solution was other than I didn't open the game for 2 whole days before taking another crack at it, which, in the meantime, I had restarted my computer as well as updated the game, as I recall an update had been released for the version the game sits at currently. 1.22.3? And since then, the same save no longer has this issue because I don't think the boar killing me was significant. But I suspect that my corpse may have fallen into a body of water near where I died, and the game was still assuming I was dead and looking up because that's what happens when you die, as well as sinking into the floor. After all, that's what happens when you enter a body of water. I have no clue how to recreate it, and I don't understand the game well enough to do so.

I wasn't using mods. The issue is currently fixed. See other reply. I will report to the bug tracker in the future. At the time, I didn't realize there was a link to it on the main menu. Regarding the cursed world gen seeds, they all had stock settings. I didn't mess with anything other than the grace timer and making the climate one slot warmer than the default. This resulted in the floating island purgatory. The ocean-locked island was default in everything except the grace timer. I don't have the seed anymore for floating island purgatory. I just deleted the world because I didn't want to reopen it. I still have the one for being stuck in the ocean. I've only generated one additional world since then, and that was after installing BetterRuins, because the world I've been mainly playing on has been pretty barren for exploration, and I just wanted more bone soil spawns because archeology is fun. As well as ResinFarm, because a different issue with the fixed save was that there weren't any pine trees except for the ones I planted, so no resin. Regardless, I'm having a much better time than before because I don't have to deal with being dragged underground.
