Many people will disagree, but there's no such thing as a free lunch.

I think there should be a way to comprehensively support developers.

Players who have spent hundreds of hours playing are looking for more polish.

Unless it's a new investment, time is limited, and passion alone won't fill your stomach.

People without friends can't even distribute supporter packs, can they?

Wouldn't it be better to overcome some kind of concrete (financial) hurdle in order to ensure the long-term sustainability of a wonderful community?

Is it really that impossible to reinvest in developers or your favorite games?

The supporter addon is an option, for those who have already purchased or been gifted the game, but wish to contribute more money to development:

To my knowledge, the devs are doing just fine on money, and sales are still rolling in given that new players show up on the forums fairly often. The game also receives regular updates packed with content. I don't exactly see a problem here?

My thoughts on how starving the VS artists are (or aren't).

Until a couple years ago Tyron posted a 24 running count of copies sold.  It equated to roughly 1,000 copies a month on average. About 18-24 months ago there was a huge increase in sales.   Like a 300% increase.

Given the increase in the size of the development team, I don't think they're hurting for cashflow.  When I started playing the dev team was Tyron, Saraty (his wife) and another part-time coder.   Today I think it's about 8 people.

Peruse these forums and you'll see some with a title of "Very Supportive Vintarian" indicating that person has made a donation separate from purchasing the game.

You can also check the FAQ for other ways to further support this most wonderful project.
