Murphy Slaw Posted June 11 Report Posted June 11 Hey guys, so I recently had a very intense moment in the game: I entered my house and found a Drifter roaming about. When I delivered the killing blow with my silver Falx (don't know if that plays into it?), the Drifter began its normal death animation. But after dropping to its knees, it wearily lifted its arms and looked them over slowly. Then it dropped its arms and head normally. It looked like the Drifter, at the moment of death, had a moment of clarity; it realised what it had become and saw its new body through its old eyes. I stood rooted to the spot for a solid couple of seconds, flabberghasted. Real life creepypasta moment Has anyone else encountered this? I tried to find out if this was a feature or a rare moment of idle animations strangely interacting with death animations. From what I understand it's technically possible, but I'm not sure if the Drifter can enter idle states when moving away from combat. I was standing at max two blocks away from it when I swung. Darce's Drifter Rework (which I have installed) does not list any active changes in the type of animations that play. Honestly interested in your takes on this, and if anyone else has encountered something similar? Cheers

It's a weird overlap between an idle animation and death animation--I've seen it happen a few times. It's also why you occasionally see drifters flailing around angrily while chasing you. 9 hours ago, Murphy Slaw said: Darce's Drifter Rework (which I have installed) does not list any active changes in the type of animations that play. Are you sure? Pulling from the description: https://mods.vintagestory.at/darcesdriftersredone Quote Tweaks of Darce's animations for added detail, such as a noticable wobble and swing to the double-headed drifter's heads, and some other minor details to others. That's not to say that the mod is responsible, because as I said above, I've seen it happen several times in vanilla. But I wouldn't rule out the mod having some influence either.
Shoom Posted Sunday at 09:25 PM Report Posted Sunday at 09:25 PM I've noticed that sometimes, when not attacking anything, drifters will be standing around just gazing up at the sky, very creepy, implies that they have some level of sentience, I love that detail and hope the devs continue to add more odd behavior to them.
