Waycaps Posted August 16 Report Posted August 16 New Player Here, Just a suggestion and a skill issue but I am not sure why specifically the Mouflon sheep and one other sheep have an aggro behavior that is higher than wolves and also do a higher health %, while also being faster than them. I can't imagine being blunt force hit by a sheep is more mortally damaging than being bit by a wolf but maybe I'm wrong.

Sheep can be quite dangerous, even without horns. 3 hours ago, Waycaps said: I am not sure why specifically the Mouflon sheep and one other sheep have an aggro behavior that is higher than wolves and also do a higher health %, while also being faster than them. The higher health is likely because the game counts them as large creatures(they drop large hides and a lot of meat) while counting wolves as medium creatures(they drop medium hides and less meat). It could also be that way to help protect domesticated sheep from predators, allowing them to take a hit or two before death, but I'm not sure. In any case, Mouflon and bighorn sheep aren't more aggressive than wolves. Wolves will usually attack the player immediately as soon as the player comes close enough. Sheep will try to move away from the player first, only attacking if the player either attacks first or otherwise comes way too close. As to why they're faster, I assume it's to help them flee from predators--it's an unfortunate side effect that the player cannot easily run away from an angry sheep, but at the same time...players do have plenty of opportunity to avoid upsetting the sheep to begin with. Wolves are probably slower since they're more aggressive and a commonly encountered creature, giving players more of a chance of successfully running away.

I usually just stay away from the fence rather than all that, and I have a cleaver if I need to take one out.

But that's assuming you're in the pen with them. As long as the troughs are placed somewhat close to the fence, you should be able to refill them without stepping into the pen. Carcasses can also be harvested from outside the pen if the pen is small enough and you get the right angle. The pen does need to be just big enough though that all the wilder sheep can run away to a corner while you're doing whatever, so they're less likely to bother you.
SnapJelly Posted Sunday at 11:41 PM Report Posted Sunday at 11:41 PM yeah best steer clear off the sheep unless you got a solid plan going up to them, even in heavy armor they could easily knock you off a ledge or into a pit if you're not paying attention. But in the case of sheep you don't have to ''fear'' them like you'd do wolves and bears, they won't come after you unless you bump into them real close, you can walk past them casually and if you don't bother them generally they won't bother you either
