Pamela
Do you need to "clean up" the bones when you kill an animal? I have heard on some YouTube videos that leaving them affects the spawn rate of new animals.

redram
They'll eventually despawn on their own. Not sure about the spawn rate thing.
City Builder
Thanks, I've also been wondering if the presence of bones deters other animals from the area. For example, I have a garden growing that is surrounded by a 1x2 pit (to protect the garden from rodents / rabbits) and if I leave their bones in the pit, would that deter other animals from coming to the area and falling into the pit? Also, is there a way to turn their "bones" into something using a tool when we break them down? Edited October 10, 2020 by City Builder

It's possible that in the future that might not be the case, and you actually have to do something to the skeleton to get the bones. Bones don't have any deterrent effect that I'm aware of.
