link12313
It can have the same travel multiplication mechanic as the nether but with this games eldritch theme. Maybe it can involve a portal made with temporal gears teleporter parts and some mechanical power in some sort of multiblock structure. It will need to be a super late game structure though. Streetwind
This already exists. Not player-constructable though. Rather, the player can find damaged translocator devices hidden in underground ruins. After repairing them with metal parts and temporal gears, these will send the player to a paired translocator some distance away - sometimes thousands of blocks. You won't know where you end up, but large, long-running servers can discover and map out enough of these to make travel networks. They're admittedly somewhat time-consuming to find in singleplayer. But then again, most mechanics are. This game has a certain slant to cooperative multiplayer from the get-go.
link12313
I'm talking about a much more risky player built portal system using ancient parts. It would take you too another world entirely that would have a movement multiplication effect like the nether.
mechanicaljack
Perhaps just making it possible to move or construct your own translocator. If you could move them, perhaps having to have one person on either side and spend resources to sync them together again. If a fast travel dimension were implemented, I would recommend an ethereal realm, home to the drifters and probably worse things.
