primitive weapons

Modern Anubis

hey one thing that id think would fit really well in the game is a sling, you could even nap bullets for it out of stone and stuff. I feel like itd help make the game feel more different. OH also an atlatl would be interesting maybe helps get some more range and damage out of a spear. I also hear throwing sticks were pretty good to and those could be really neat and maybe could work with a wood working skill or something

Atlatl would greatly improve spear-throwing and would be a fun thing to spend time making. Requiring a proper amount of sticks + fibers/yarn/feathers (Any of the three) and seperate recipes for different kinds.

Standard; Boosts range + damage.

Large; Allows you to fire two spears at once, but has less range.

Hunter; High range + extra damage to prey animals, standard damage to mobs.

This seems more like mod territory. It may not immediately apparent, but the game itself is set in an era comparable to the renaissance. Reading the ingame lore pieces will quickly let you realize this. Additionally, the player character spawns in the world with nothing, and thus must use primitive means to get their initial setup up and running, but does not remain stuck in the stone age for more than the first week. They come pre-armed with the knowledge to create highly advanced metal body armors, building steel-making furnaces from memory, and working with gears and mechanical power. They just need to acquire the resources and tools necessary to act on that knowledge.

To make Vintage Story into a proper stone age simulator, going the mods route seems more logical. There are already mods around that greatly expand on primitive methods of survival, such as fishing with woven reed traps. A pack of primitive weapons seems like a perfectly good mod idea as well.

Grenades and Caltrops are pretty old weapons so they should fit in around the medieval period of this game quite well with the way materials limit them. I would consider both to be primitive compared to the modern era and we are beyond that age.

Both would be historically valid here and useful since there are currently no weapons for fighting groups, and Vintage Story could use some more late game content.
