Mariusz Niedzialkowski
Hello. At the outset, I would like to thank you for the enormity of your work in this game. It is incredibly interesting. Do the developers plan to convert simple minecraft blocks into something like 7 day to die hex blocks? I know that it involves huge changes, but it would definitely change the reception of the game and its visual aspect. As well as it is possible considering the fact that 7 day to die used to undergo such a conversion
l33tmaan
It's a little late for that, don't you think?
Mariusz Niedzialkowski
Absolutely not. 7 day to die started the same, they converted to hex blocks in the alpha version later
Garjouan
Although hexagons are better (and more versatile) in covering a surface, there is no 3D-Hexagon. Or do you mean hexagonal prisms? Plus, all pictures I find of 7 Days to Die show the usual cubic, six sided blocks?
l33tmaan
I don't see what 7 Days to Die has to do with Vintage Story. Do you have any images of what you're talking about?
Mariusz Niedzialkowski
Yes I mean hexagonal prisms Sorry, English is not my primary language. It is about landscaping. 7 day to die started with a hexagon so it looked the same as minecraft, now after changing the lumps the terrain looks more natural, without the "stairs" effect
Mariusz Niedzialkowski
Vintage story as well as 7 day to die is based on minecraft. Of course, I've heard that a vintage story is a game code built from scratch, but the beginnings come from the same. I don't have photos, but from 7 day to die I started with a very early game and even though it is a completely different game, which in the end did not turn out as I would have dreamed, it has some interesting elements that the authors of Vintage story could consider. Vintage story is a great game, however in order to completely cut myself off from minecraft, I think that the element I am mentioning would be obvious
Mariusz Niedzialkowski
https://7daystodie.com/alpha-8-with-smooth-terrain-is-here/ I mean smooth terrain. Changing the block type made it possible for 7 day to die to create a world that looks more natural, smooth, the hills look like hills, no need to jump over them, the mountains are smooth, the mound is smooth
Mariusz Niedzialkowski
They use Unity engine to smooth teerain, change shape to diamond in alpha 8 Edited May 4, 2022 by Mariusz Niedzialkowski
setne550
That is kind of hard to implement in a voxel game.
daretmavi
7D2D is a voxel game as well, but ... If you create smooth terrain, you need better textures and models with more detail and even then people will complain, that the graphic is outdated. 7D2T started to change textures to hires recently. Not everyone can see, that voxel game with fully destroy-able environment is something different than "classic" game, where you can make much better graphics and it runs better on nowadays PCs. I actually like VS design, but it would be interesting to see the game without blocky world :D
