Mod Idea - Lighthouse and/or Lighthouse Beacon
Dr B replied to Dr B's topic in [Legacy] Mods & Mod Development
Yep, that's the two issues I have, too. It's so comforting to come over a mountain and see my little house off in the distance, surrounded by the soft glow of all those little lights, but just imagine how amazing it would look to see a sweeping beam spinning off in the distance. -
While building my windmill, I got to the top and thought about how cool it would be to be able to put a REALLY powerful light at the top that would either link up to the mill with some gears and shafts and slowly spin, or at least shine out to the N, S, E, and W and shoot a bright navigable beam out so I could find my way home. The light would need to be something you had to carry in both hands so that it wouldn't be some ultra-powerful lantern, probably. Alternatively, if there was a way to make lenses to place around a regular lantern to make it blast out a beam, that could maybe work in a pinch?

[Mod Request] Weapon Display Plaques
Dr B replied to Dr B's topic in [Legacy] Mods & Mod Development
Crap, I thought I had hotlinked to that mod, but yes, I think that's the one I am currently using. If that's the one with the sword stands, then I love it. I'll edit my post to add the missing link! Would also expand my examples to include: Anything on this page The sword displays on this page Something like this Or this Or this -
[Mod Request] Weapon Display Plaques

There have been some fantastic forays into this idea but would love more! -
Just wanted to boost this again since it had been so long.

Dr B started following Mod Request/Update: Tree Config
-
Does anyone know of any mod that does this anymore? https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/4445 Or could someone adopt/update it? One of the things I learned from my years in the gaming industry is that one of the easiest ways to add a subtle "fantasy" feel to a forest is to make the trees oversized, either slightly or overtly. Quite often the players won't even notice the difference (unless you go crazy with your tweaks), but thicker/taller/oversized trees will automatically give a mystical/fairy-tale air to a forest. What I'm dreaming of is that there's some kind of mod out there that can tweak not only the heights for trees, but also hopefully increase the "standard" tree thickness to the 4x4 trunk size that the Redwood trees boast (whatever mod it is that adds them) and then maybe even boost redwoods to 3x3. This would give such a wonderful vibe to a world, IMO, especially since we're supposed to be seraphs and for some reason I already feel shorter than it seems like I should feel anyway. I already sub to the Better Trees mod and love how that adds lots of variety to tree shapes, but am yearning for something that gives me more control over the size.

In addition to the lard question above, is there no way to make pre-gelatin in bulk (more than 4L broth and 4 bones at a time)? Please (please please please) consider making some bulk recipes? Maybe using the large cauldron? EDIT: Looks like the large cauldron has this option. It would be fantastic if this was mentioned in the docs or something. Would've saved so many hours of cooking.... Also, making bone broth and pre-gelatin don't seem to be registering as "cooking" in regards to XSkills...is making that count an XSkills request or a L33tman request?
-
Is it only possible to make lard one batch at a time with 4 fat and .8L water? 8 and 1.6L doesn't seem to work, so am I doing something wrong?

There are mods that add lots of these, by the way.

With the lovely planter and pot options out there, I would love if you had the ability to take trimmings from a tree and turn them into bonsai. I am not asking for a full-fledged system where you grow and train them or anything, just a way to put a cutting into a pot and have it look like a little bonsai. Even better (and more suitable) if you could put the cuttings into food bowls. If someone wanted to get fancy, it would be amazing if you could get different styles of bonsai based on the type and number of cutting(s) used and where you put it in the crafting grid in relation to the pot (and not just randomly get one when you right-clicked the planter). Thanks for reading.

If anything invaded my homestead and had the capability to break blocks and destroy my work, I'd immediately go find the settings to turn it off or find a mod to disable it.

Heya, @Xandu, I know you're probably feeling a bit of pressure with all the people asking for a status, but I hope you're not letting it get you down. I think people would just like to know something (anything) in regards to where your mods stand. You're still logging in, so even if it's bad news, I hope you can give folks some kind of update on what your plans are. At the very least, someone might be willing or able to take over if you don't want to keep up with it. Consider all the questions a testament to how good this mod was and how many people enjoyed it!

I have no idea if the game engine can grok the concept of distinct areas during world-gen, but I would love the ability to either have the game name areas for us or for us to be able to mark areas with names of our own choosing. It would be very beneficial, for example, to be able to indicate on the map waypoint that a certain translocator sent you to Jonas' Ridge or the Plains of Eastwick or the Black Bog as opposed to just "245, -14, 2367". If the game can't differentiate between arbitrary zones like that, maybe some kind of map overlay with a way to delineate areas and name them ourselves would be great. I think it would be a real boon to those of us who like to breath our own bits of life into the world and add our own bits of lore. Thanks in advance for the consideration.

I'd very much like a way to display one (or even two or maybe three) weapons in a much more aesthetically pleasing way aside from using a wall rack. Something along the lines of literally just about any of the following Thanks in advance if anyone is able to do anything like this!
