  1. i tryyyy to keep a relatively low mod-count and retain largely vanilla features with some qol improvements/hud information, and decorative mods the biggest/most important ones for me that i feel naked and incompetent without are status hud, temporal storm timer, and culinary artillery/expanded foods. i love the food system and i really hope that the devs might work with l33tmaan to perhaps implement some of his meals into the base game. other than that i just like making things look pretty. decor bazaar, shelf obsessed, more roads, and wooden shutters are my favorites. it can get tiresome trying to chisel every unique piece of furniture that you want so i love decor bazaar for adding a pretty wide variety of blocks, especially functional ones like the cabinets and food storages i also really love qp's chisel tools, the ability to chisel a custom block and then mask it over a functional block is so fulfilling. i love being able to chisel a big continuous oven that's actually made up of 2-3 separate ovens, or design my own bed, or create a custom storage block... all around a 10/10 mod in my opinion
  2. i'm kind of hesitant to indulge the eagerness to have big-name streamers and creators tell their audiences about the game... from my understanding the devs have been very deliberate about their release process/trying to handle the growth of the community and their feedback. i definitely agree that the game deserves more love but i think equally the devs deserve to have the pacing that they want for the game, to get feedback as the community incrementally grows over time so that they don't lose sight of their goals because of too much input that being said, i think i heard about one of the Hermitcraft members, GeminiTay, mentioning vintage story on one of her streams or videos, and i have mixed feelings even about that. i'm glad that she's discovered the game and that she enjoys it, but i do have concerns exactly for the reasons i mentioned above; the devs don't want to be inundated by too much input, and i certainly don't want an influx of several thousands of new players (...and kind of especially, i don't want an excessive influx of extremely young players that want to treat it with the simplicity of minecraft and then complain that it's too hard.) in the future, when the devs have reached a point where they're more satisfied with their progress and feel more secure in their ability to handle a larger fanbase, i would be a lot more supportive of popular streamers and creators calling larger attention to the game. as it stands, though, i quite like the relatively-small community that exists now
  3. of course! it's one of my personal favorite mods because it feels so lightweight and unobtrusive - there's also a whole bunch of settings so you can specifically toggle what information you do or don't want to see good luck and I hope you can find a nice stable region to build your tower!!
  4. some of these replies are making me feel like a baby... the first "Real Game(s)" i got my hands on was the orange box in 2012, and i still think about portal and half-life constantly to this day. valve went extremely hard with their worldbuilding and storytelling and i still deeply adore their franchises but in more recent years i've been down bad for final fantasy 14 and project zomboid. ffxiv has been so much fun with how expansive and complex the main and side stories are; it is so so so much fun to play through the main story and recognize characters from side content, or play through side content and see main story characters that haven't shown up in a while. on the total opposite hand i adore project zomboid for the fact that there is no story aside from what you live through. there is something so uniquely delightful about making your zomboid survivor and conceptualizing who they were before the apocalypse when choosing their occupation and skills and expanding on that idea through your gameplay (and honestly... i've brought a lot of that zomboid energy over to VS, too! it is so much fun to play through the story and read up on the lore and start imagining who your seraph might have been before the rot...)
  5. yeah, some people can be rude or elitist about others wanting to make the game easier or less hostile for them, but the game IS designed for you to change the difficulty to what you want to experience i personally play with "creatures only attack when provoked" and i decrease animal swim speed to 100% because their default feels unfairly fast. setting your world temperature a bit warmer can also be a bit "nicer" because more crops will generate in warmer climates! you should also definitely basically abuse the map waypoint system; any time you find something interesting or set up a base you should definitely drop a waypoint as soon as you can. Also Personally, if i travel several thousands of blocks from spawn before finding somewhere i want to build at, i will just use /serverconfig setspawnhere so i don't have to either run thousands of blocks back home or be required to grind drifter kills to get a temporal gear (threw post into Google Translate for french in hopes it'll be easier for you to read ^_^)
  6. if you're open to mods I would recommend checking out Status HUD Continued, they have a HUD element that actively displays the temporal stability in a region! when a region has full temporal stability, the gear stays still and the HUD element is hidden, but whenever you walk somewhere temporally unstable it will show a decreasing stability percentage. i think it starts registering somewhere around 140% temporal stability and below. it also has a separate HUD element directly to the left of the hotbar that will display an icon for if something is considered a Room, a Greenhouse, or a Cellar which can be similarly useful for knowing if your builds are sealed/identified as rooms instead of needing to use /debug room hi
  7. seconding Mrozak here; my server is not extremely large, but server\data\Playerdata\playerdata.json seems to retain all player information even after a server restart!
  8. hi! I'm working on a clothing mod to expand the clothing choices in game (especially more feminine & colorful clothing) and I am collaborating with a friend to develop designs, but I'm coming up short on how to animate in VSMC. I've got JSON writing down pretty good, and I'm getting a handle on the modelling - my friend is working on designing the clothes and we might bounce back and forth on texturing them together. it would be nice to have a third person join in to help with the animation side of things! I'll try to keep an eye on this thread, but you can also contact @my.enemies on Discord to reach out to me directly
