  1. 3 days here as I am slow to select my 'home' , I like water and a view... I am getting better so may drop the delay, but it will be hard to break the habit of a nice temp habitat, one must have standards after all or one is simply not human...err seraphin, or does it count if you are seraphin, is it a human thing ? Nah 3 days for me, the bois are too noisy so I want something between me and them.
  2. Is it VRAM or System RAM ? I figured System but was not 100% as its usually a VRAM thing. I didn't notice much change myself. I tend to adjust to my tolerances, I can and will tolerate a lot of stutter if the scene warrants it, I played Dues Ex on a PC woefully unpowered to a point I was doing boss battles at 2 -5 FPS (so I got a habit of using GEPS on boss battles), I played Unreal in a tiny window because it looked awesome... so I am not a I need 20 000 FPS or the game is unplayable, I am happy with a lot less. I roll with most of the eye candy on, 614 view distance with FPS limited to 75 fps at 1920 x 1080 , and its mostly smooth and looks great. I did up the chunk limiter so it stuttered a bit less as I have 32 gig ram.
  3. I think VS will go under the radar, its not violent nor does it advocate anything except eldritch horror and survival, the fights are tame and there is no other forms of issues. I get the point but VS is pretty low on the list at the moment, I just hope the industry will wake up before it goes too far.
  4. Wouldn't it be better if the effect of the boss was more pronounced, as in a wave that you could dodge ? A pulse on the ground you could jump over ? I think this could be better than healing over the damage a means to avoid the damage instead, a pulse of damage you can jump over that you can see ? It seems bad when one can heal over a boss, it seems more 'fun' to learn to avoid a boss attack, rather than simply 'tank' it ?
  5. I would say its not perfect, but its at least better than TOBG to a point where copper is a bad thing, I dont think its too hard to get to copper a lot of the time as in I can get copper tools in 2-3 hours of a fresh start, and I think that is the slow aim of a vanilla play. I prefer the slow progress to copper than the ignore copper because we have iron tools from TOBG... its not MC is bad, its just VS is focusing on appreciating progress, I mean I get copper in about 3 hours, and I am slow... I am sure a dedicated player would laugh at my time. Not perfect, but for now its fun... at least we like copper.
  6. Some mods are not updated, the authors moved on or just cant justify the effort to update a mod, plus the game updates will cause issues, the latest has delisted some files to make sure mods are covered in current releases (SSBO) , so mods may be in flux for a while or simply not updated, mod authors are not obligated to keep up, we appreciate all mods.
  7. I am not trying to be difficult here but (oh yeah heres the but) the original title had me thinking MTX...as in a server that made players pay real cash, I know this is not the case but the title immediately made me think that, may be a me thing but I just wanted to let you know this in a friendly manner, as in I know its not MTX level just saying I thought that for a while. May be worth changing the title to reflect this ?
  8. I suppose in the end what defines a genre is not that important as what we get from the experience personally. I mean Diablo is considered a ActionRPG, but I dont think its a RPG myself, I think Baldurs Gate ... Diablo was a fun loot collection that I enjoyed, the lore was interesting but I liked the loot collecting, definitely not what I consider any RPG...action or not. So I agree with you it is subjective, or even personal.
  9. You heard of the 'heroes journey', a template for story writers of all types... it outlays a start, a struggle, a path of getting strong and then a ending, that to me is a RPG. VS is more a carve a life here type, you start and struggle but you are not usually aiming to get strong to get to the end, you are carving out a space to live in... you aint the hero you are a seraph that woke up and wanted to live, then thrive. RPG should be define by the R... you play a Role, a position carved out for the player to fill, then struggle a bit then get stronger, then win. It should stand to reason you need some lore centric reason to be the role (I dont define hero or villain as some have bad people winning). The confusing part could be because it doesn't have to be a traditional story, it could be starting with the player, no background reason just a conflux that occurs now and the player/s need to act, a current story with a current issue and not one started years ago.
  10. Its odd that the parts that are not loading are the story parts, at least I would guess it is.. or its the mod BetterRuins.
  11. VS is not an RPG, its a eldritch horror survival game with a creative slant, the newly announced adventure mode will be more RPG like. VS can be a RPG with certain mods like the XSkills mod, but natively it is not. RPG typically denotes a game where on gains skills/levels up, becomes a hero/villain and 'wins' the game, VS has an optional story one can pursue if one wants or not, the game doesn't care its more a reason things are like they are... the world, and the players experiences it as they want. That's my lowly opinion at least
  12. The game as a whole is a slow burn, as it was meant to be, careful additions to make the game more, rather than bombastic changes that will annoy players... I for one approve the slow burn method.
  13. While I am curious why you have a SSD for games and not for your OS, the OS is so much faster with an SSD, but thats not the issue. I find it odd your performance was so bad, you have a similar spec to me (i74790k 32 3060 on a SSD) and I get smooth 75 FPS (my monitor limit). I am curious did you install the game on the original SATA HDD and then later move the install to the SSD ? If you did try installing it from fresh to the SSD as that should set all data paths correctly. I run the game on my gaming SSD, but originally off a SATA drive, so I installed it onto the SSD rather than just cut and move. Lets start at the basics, did you install the game to the new SSD, or simply move it there ?
  14. The team is looking to the waters a bit this time, the 1.21 pre version have tried to add some fun to the waters, but not to the point other things spawn there, or a reason to actually go into the ocean... coral and/or waves but not mobs yet, I dont doubt the team will do something as this is a step to making oceans interesting but at least now we have coral and waves... its a good start I would say. I think that spawns may be adjusted so we get a few less daylight spawns, unless you have a cave near to spawn them so they can move to you. I think the spawns are still linked to light radius, so some random shade could be ok as a spawn but I haven't been too hassled by drifters, I do the usual despawn trick, my only change is to make a rooftop access so I can drop and run.
  15. I dont mean to be nasty or sound aggressive here, but we have a welcome section and a section to help players speak of VS or other subjects. All players , including but not exclusive of Hytale players are welcome here, we have other sections of the forum to speak and get help, and VS has a very helpful Discord if that is your bag. I just think the news section has lost the news part, I mean the new pre 3 is out, but not a squeak, even Tyron is not wow'ing us with some new crazy .gif. Lets get back to normal, and this includes Tyron, oi wheres the crazy .gifs man
  16. The wording is that the barred versions could not be in the ovens, as in its the same as always but now we can have a barred version for castles/keeps. The wording suggested the new barred version would not work in ovens due to the bars, Hope that helps Edit: To clarify its the new Barred version, that may work in the ovens due to the bar thing, the barred version does not work with cementation ovens, as stated,
  17. I think because its been a few pre's , the team are wanting to be a tad more patient before going RC, some of the tweaks and fixes would of been a bit messy and I agree with the idea, it may need a bit more time to cook.
  18. I will say, and agree what Rudo there said... its often a good thing if the new player says hi and dies to a wolf or bear, it enforces this is not a easy game, nor is it a friendly game... I mean do we want a kid friendly game where we can build and do things like... that other block game, or are we here to have a challenge, hell kids probably kick my butt in this game. I would be more straight here, I think it should be more difficult but in a more logical manner. As it is the challenge is related to how well you cull the local wolves and dealing with the new rift dudes, the boys are easy by the new boys are something new. I would love it if the devs had a look at our grey boys and went they are too easy, and compared to the new lot a bit lacking... not bad, just need a upgrade methinks. I love the boys but they need some love, some bling, heck we have mods to make them more... interesting.
  19. Unless I am mistaken, you want a table top rpg, as in a card game with cards... or you are using TTRPG differently ? I thought you wanted to make 'cards' to make physical world where you placed cards ? Am I wrong here ?
  20. I have to ask, would you be happy to make end game enemies easy ? Myself I want to be destroyed by saw blades, I want them to scare the [bleep] out of me and make me run away. I want enemies to be scary, not put on farm status... I want those mofo's to kill me, to be an issue, to be deadly or add a new version... maybe a gear powered locust with a saw, it moves faster. and it had more HP...but more it can retreat and heal up, then go crazy on you again. I want mobs to be scary, like Shivers and Towborn, they add issues... locust are too easy, hell add a ranged version that fire spikes at you. We need to make the rust enemies dangerous, all game long not just at the start, and not farmable...I mean the boys are a joke ok, a early introduction but the rest should be scary. Come on guys make these guys a challenge, make me hide in my home not see them as something I can farm... maybe make the harder lot be a thing 10 days in but more scary, a change up. Storms are commonly seen as lame, or a pain... we need a reason to drag players out to fight, and to fear the storms.. not an option you can say nope to, I dont say remove that option, I say make that option cost something.
  21. Explain this as you, then hope you get a team to help, then present this to Anego, I mean its their IP so your game will reflect them as well. Its not just hey lets make a card game, it has issues outside, a a TT game would represent the VS game to the whole... could you carry that ? Carry the whole IP to a world ? If it was just the TT world it would be easy, but it also represents the game... thats the expensive part. Anego may be happy with the TT game, but not the issues it could make. I dont appose the idea, I just dont support it.. its not my bag to be honest, but hey I dont hate it.
  22. I wouldn't be interested in a TT variant, I like how I can carve my niche in the world, but I would not oppose a fan made attempt to make a TT version, just I wouldn't buy it... because I dont play TT games to be honest.
  23. I may be mistaken here, but isn't there 2 pumphead spots, and one is missing the pumphead and the other is missing a large gear ?
  24. The unusable beds are usually called short or double, meaning they were for kids... a bit grim, you can claim aged beds / tables but most of the clutter is decorative. Wallpaper is a trader option, and rarely seen in ruins... most pillage the aged wood for accents. 1.20 has the same restrictions, as in you cant just nab stuff, at best if you use glue you can grab clutter, except torch holders, aged beds/chests/crates. and wood, the most is interesting clutter, ie decorations. My point is that one should not be able to raid ruins and gain a significant advantage, though you can still get copper/bronze tools, its just rare. I rather not have ruins be so beneficial that they can push a player ahead, its like saying I will take this challenge head on but then get op kit and easily beast the challenge... if you really want you can just gift yourself a tonne of stuff with a few commands, then why play a challenging game ? I get what you are saying, you found a ruin and why are most just dirt and ... dirt ? But I say that is because the ruins are not meant to rush you forward, just a side quest to play with, then you march forward on your own. I mean watch some YT vids of MC....the sheer number of stuff that can be explored, and more odd the stuff you get... hell most of the MC runs I watched didn't even use copper... iron -> diamond only. Wouldn't it be sad if you could bypass the whole struggle to get a copper pickaxe ? I have got to copper loads of times, and each time I get a copper pickaxe is special... maybe I am odd, could be I am a odd player.
  25. clutter is available, either you gather glue or use the default game to make it that clutter drops always... so you can get all that stuff already, one way or the other so what exactly do you want in the ruins that is not op, yet is fun enough to grab ? For me its torch holders and candelabras , or a owl chest I can use to spice up my home... or even cabbage seeds, or even pumpkin seeds. Yeah sure I do get annoyed when I dig out a ruin and only get dirt and maybe flint tools, but the thought I may get something else in the next ruin keeps me going. I cant see how it would make the game better if ruins had better loot, it would turn into a thing where a ruin is a score, instead of being a option to get stuff.
