Thanks for being so patient! I actually intend to add a configuration option for the textures via ConfigLib/IMGUI that can be toggled on or off by the server admin. Coming soon... ish...

Version 1.1.0 released -Updated the patch paths to deal with the fact that animal asset folders are totally re-arranged in version 1.21.x

Version 1.2.0 released Added code to allow edible items that are also plantable (loose seeds, seed packets, grains and peanuts) to be planted or eaten at the player's discretion. RightMouseButton will now plant when focussed on farmland and eat when focussed on nothing (i.e. looking at the sky); also Ctrl-RightMouseButton will eat under any circumstance, even when focussed on a block. Tweaked perish times to be shorter

Zippy's Crop Tweaks is a collection of farming tweaks that I have implemented over time for a private server that I play on. It has grown to become a full-fledged mod with (in my opinion) some rather interesting gameplay dynamics, so I thought I'd release it to the public. My initial impulse was to call it "Yet Another Crop Mod", as there already exists a wide selection of them on the ModDB! If I have inadvertently copied another modder's ideas I apologize; it wasn't intentional. I don't play with any crop mods besides this one and I developed this mod 'tabula raza' from my own inspirations. More details in the mod description.

Version 1.1.0 changes -Slightly de-buffed meteoric iron chunk drop rate when mining meteorite blocks (dist invexp => strongerinvexp). Blocks will almost always drop only 1 meteoric iron chunk. On rare occasions they will drop 2 or even 3 chunks, but only *very* rarely. -Increased the required heating time for meteorite shards and meteoric iron bits. They now take longer to process. -Changed temperature handling so that leaving a newly created meteoric iron chunk in the firepit will cause it to fairly quickly heat up to working temperature so it can immediately be transferred to an anvil. -Added chiselling recipes that allow meteoric iron chunks and meteorite shards to be broken into meteoric iron bits. This is a *lossy* process which does not return the full amount of materials. This has been done on purpose as a way to partially recover materials from an item that the player has smithed improperly. -Changed all metalbit grid recipes to require both a hammer and chisel when breaking items down into metalbits (because it just makes sense).

Important! There is an error in version 1.0.0 of this mod that will crash your game whenever a piece of rotting reedroot tries to transition to a quantity of rot. This has been fixed in version 1.0.1, so please upgrade!

Zippy's Cattail Stew allows cattail, tule, and papyrus roots to be used in stews, soups, porridge and other dishes. Just a simple little tweak to stave off early game starvation.

Ach, Captain! She canna take the pressure much longer!!

I don't want to go too far down the rabbit hole, but overheating could be covered by the addition of a flask/water-skin item which lowers body temperature by X degrees every time you drink from it. Hydrate or Diedrate has had a very in-depth go at this but I don't think an implementation needs to be anywhere near as complex as that to be rewarding. Just have body temp rise based on environment + clothing and fall by a certain amount whenever you drink some water. I think that's all the game would really need.

I don't disagree with you, but anyone who has actually worn gambeson will tell you, it is also surprisingly hot! (I have friends in the SCA) What I think Vintage story needs is a more nuanced temperature system. Instead of just getting too cold in winter you should also get too hot in summer. Running around in full armor in July would then have a health tradeoff for all that "overpowered" gambeson goodness. Tailored gambeson, a class specialty, could then also be cooler as well as lighter.

Zippy's Re-Seeding Reeds version 2.0.0 Changes: Recieved a few complaints about being inundated with too many roots when harvesting in bulk with a scythe, so added C# code to override default reed handling. Now reed tops only drop roots when harvested with a knife; not when harvested with a scythe. Slightly de-buff drop rates of roots from 0.20 down to 0.15.

Updated to v1.1.1 Fix error where bowtorns give no item drops

Zippy's Sky Steel allows meteoric iron to be shaped using copper-age tools. I am aware that another meteoric iron mod has already existed since version 1.19.4 called Meteoric Iron Overhaul created by Squonk. Feel free to check it out. It's a very nice content-only mod. I try to avoid "reinventing the wheel" if possible, but I made this mod because it handles the refining and forging steps in a slightly more immersive way that could only be achieved through writing a C# code mod. Also, Squonk's mod may be abandonware at this point as the author has not communicated for over a year now (as of May 2025). The object of this mod is to transform meteoric iron from a mere curiosity only obtainable with iron-age tools to an "Oh Goody!" windfall for players in the early game. The crafting mechanics attempt to remain as true as possible to real life, albeit in a somewhat simplified and optimistic form. This mod gives an incentive for players in the early game to keep an eye out for meteorite impacts! More details in the mod description.

A Temporal Storm of a Different Kind
Zippy Wonderdust replied to Zippy Wonderdust's topic in Discussion
Y'know, not until this very moment have I ever made a conscious association between Zippy Wonderdust and Ziggy Stardust. Yikes! And I actually own a couple of David Bowie albums! It seems obvious now that whatever subconscious forces were at play in my head when I created my name, the spectre of Mr Bowie must have been in there somewhere. Regarding my channel, I don't do it the way many YouTubers seem to. I don't use OBS Studio, nor Davinci Resolve or even KDENLive. I record my sessions with the incredibly handy GPU Screen Recorder, cut and organize them in Lossless Cut and do the cross-fades between segments with straight-up ffmpeg on the command line. It's bare-bones but it seems to work. Regarding keeping up a monologue while playing, I'm still trying to do that better. I usually jot down at least a bullet-point list of tasks and topics before I record a session, and I have a post-it note stuck to my monitor that simply says "Keep Talking"! -
A Temporal Storm of a Different Kind

That's an amazing name! ...i wish I'd thought of it... If you want to continue to think of me as Z. Wanderlust I would be honoured! (Mini origin story: Ten years ago I was creating an account for That Other Block Game and was trying to come up with something that hadn't already been taken. Zippy Wonderdust just kinda fell into my head apropos of nothing and I decided to run with it. I've always considered it to be akin to names like Procol Harum or Tangerine Dream; a cognitive placeholder who's only embodied meaning is that which you bring to it.) I will confess, in return, that I have been mentally pronouncing your name as "Lady Wit", but I have no clue what the WYT signifies! -
The next time someone runs into this problem, does a search, and winds up here, they can check out this video that I made. I do a deep dive into the save file and examine which data in there actually changes (and how to change it back) when this glitch rears its hyperactive head.
-
I recently ran into a rather spectacular looking glitch in my current world, and was wondering if anyone else here has ever bumped into it. If you haven't and you ever run into this in the future, now you know what to do. (One upside of me being a stubborn git with programming skills is that I figured out how to patch my game file to eliminate the glitch without losing any in-game time. Yay me!) https://youtu.be/SL591LQWDhk

Zippy Wonderdust's Riverworld Adventure
Zippy Wonderdust replied to Zippy Wonderdust's topic in Videos, Art or Screenshots
Episode 5 What Happens in the River Stays in the River A frustrating (for me) episode wherein we narrowly avoid burning down the neighbourhood, discover the virtual impossibility of skinning something in moving water, and then bring multiple landslides down upon ourself. Ah, soil instability, why did I think you were a good thing to enable? On the bright side, and also thanks to the river, we do discover more copper. https://youtu.be/_XXK2urrxkM -
Nah. It was just a joke.
