Wiki isn't accurate (mostly outdated) in quite a few things, this being one of them. I believe gestation period is hardcoded at this time. Same with berries. Hopefully, Tyron will update that. Soon. ish.

Indeed you are. My *ahem* short answer is to refer you to the literary works of one Mr. Howard Phillips Lovecraft. My not so short answer is that Mr. Lovecraft's universe involved extra-dimensional beings, some of whom are very powerful and most definitely not to disturb, let alone be trifled with. Said seemingly omnipotent beings have the ability to do such things as we see in game. Fortunately for the characters, said beings seem to be not care about the ants that crawl around in their proximity. There are other also explanations that you have not identified that could result in an alternate earth with a different star field than the one you and I observe. I really do recommend reading Lovecraft. Doing so will give you a great appreciation to the devs for how incredible their work portrays a Lovecraftian world.

No. VS does not use an earth like star map. I would expect that level of detail would be daunting to create.

may I introduce you to the wolf pup traffic... err trading market? Certain... uhh... people are willing to purchase pups for a very tidey sum. Better still, the cracked vessel market. Those same people are also interested in the illici... uhmm... descrete contents of cracked vessels. Either of which is much, much more lucrative than the baking and selling of breads.

At least the core game engine gives enough information to figure out which mod causes the problem. TOBG is hell to pay when there's some kind of conflict like that. Kudo's to Tyron for making his game with the mod community in mind from day 1! Whenever my game crashes due to mods, I can troubleshoot the bad mod in less than 15 minutes. Fixing the problem rarely takes more than either updating the mod or removing it because it isn't actively supported for the game version I play.

Might be a wee bit better if the peak is in the middle of the field. Less water wrangling involved.

Remember this game is early access. It's not even up for alpha testing since it isn't even feature complete (For an indicaiton of what the vision is look for the Roadmap), so things like looms, steam power and water driven mechanical power are yet to be implemented. Patience my friend, it's coming. As for why cheese and pumpkins and other things? Flavor. One upon a past version pumpkins stored as a block did not rot, making it a great way to store future food indefinitely. Have you thrown a stone at a body of water?
