I answered your question specifically. No need to be pendantically obsessive about the content in the thread; especially when you asked a question I answered.

I would love to see a space age mod or someting

Kewl!!!! In days not so long past I would troll streamers new to VS that they could stand in a rift to be *ahem * teleported to the rust dimension where nuggets of metal were littered all over the place, but gather quickly as the locals congregate quickly and are none to happy with your sudden appearance in their living room. You just told me that my idea is actually possible! Hmmmmm..... -

Something I think everyone has missed is whether the game engine is capable of creating a second world. TOBG Glacticraft mod creates more dimensions, which that game engine itself supports. VS has only one dimension. So the game itself limits the possibility of a space mod to build height for the world that is created. No alternate dimensions possible despite the lore indicating a rust "dimension". -
It's not necessarily an early game source of food, but an early game task to secure a reliable food source and stop the foraging nightmare.

Mortar production 50% nerf was unnecessary and awful

It should. -

I recently toyed with that a bit and found a good way to use firepits and minimize fuel consumption using only two firepits. Use one fire pit to bring 8 flint to temp using high temp burning coal to expedite the heating process. Once close to top temp transfer flint to firepit #2 which is used to maintain temp using peat (or whatever disposable fuel desired). Obviously increasing the number of firepits to heat flint will speed up mass production of calcinated flint. -
In my previous playthroughs the first location was southish or southeastish from spawn. In my current playthrough it was almost directly north of spawn, sooo... Maybe some changes have happened since 1.20?

You'll love it once you launch a spear and watch it corkscrew through the air into the distance.

You should have seen the two prototypes I developed in creative. Those were true monstrosities; not only in copper consuption but they were crimes against the eyes. What I posted is nice and elegant.

It's a shiver of shivers. duh!

I'll probably add fishing in the future. But currently it's forage for berries/mushrooms while I sporadically add grains/veggies and the occassional protein from a hunt.

Fortunately an area of ultra-high copper density is able to supply those copper needs. Everytime I've found such an area I will find three or four different copper deposits practically overwriting each other.

And then all the piping to funnel it to a single chest. Took me a few weeks to figure out how to weave the power and chutes. Pics can be found here:

That might be enough It depends on how many chutes, hoppers, lanterns and chests you create. I went through about 5 times that much to make an automated quad-quern grinder.

Should VS embrace the Immersive Sim in its Story?

That's my point. Unless someone has inside the industry perspective we don't know the specifics of that metric.- 16 replies

Should VS embrace the Immersive Sim in its Story?
Maelstrom replied to Perdido Street's topic in Discussion
I wonder what the definition of "completing" the story is in those studies. I can see a whole bunch of other factors playing into that don't finish the story, like player pretty quickly decided it wasn't the game that was advertised or didn't like some mechanic of the game. Then there's the whole lower attention span of the younger generations to consider. I appreciate that Tyron and Co. have made the game have non-story options. And even in the story option, the story is still optional. Enjoying the vibe of survival? Don't bother giving that one trader that one item and keep on cruisin'.- 16 replies

Should VS embrace the Immersive Sim in its Story?
Maelstrom replied to Perdido Street's topic in Discussion
I don't have a problem with a single ending regardless of the path taken. I just don't want to feel like It's a case of walking down a hallway with no doors to get to the destination. Especially if I get instances of windows in the hallway such as the speaking to the treasure hunter after the first story location.- 16 replies

If the devs do intend for the player to figure out what went wrong, I hope that as more story locations are created the treasure hunter will provide maps to them so you can potentionally go out of order, get some information from the "wrong" site but in the end figure out you done gone the wrong way to circle back to the treasure hunter to pick a different location to go to. As it stands the quests to advance the story are pretty much a go hither to do stuff. I wants some meat to chew on and figure out what my next move should be.- 16 replies

Just find one (maybe two) deposit(s) of tin ore and you should be swimming in tin.

I haven't actually quenched any iron or steel yet. I haven't gotten to that level on 1.22 yet. I was giving the most beneficiary numbers by using base steel durability vs. bone handled flint knives. But quenching a steel knife for durability only makes the differences even greater and using a stick for the flint knife also increases the disparity
-
So you want to wast 15 bones and flint for one steel ingot? Not to mention wasting all the knapping time compared to the time to forge one steel knife. Just sayin'
