  1. For flint it's best to heat up 8 flint in a firepit then cook what you need in a bloomery. I'll have to see if Tyron thought to cook lime in a bloomery...
  2. MOAR farms!
  3. You can create an ungodly amount of compost out of all the flax. Turn into dough then let it rot. 1 dought yields 1 rot. If you have enough bones you can make terra preta from scratch without any high fert soil.
  4. Indeed. Isn't realistic game play grand? Where do you think toxic waste comes from?
  5. It's a game and some things in games are not realistic so that the game is fun. Having better stats (durability, damage, etc.) on equipment is fun, therefore getting those benefits is fun.
  6. A large part of the community are over 2 years since first playing the game and are accustomed to the oddities of crafting. Personally, I like it that I have to think and calculate what material I need for crafting a particular item, or batch of items. but I'm an odd duck that was built different. probably more of a platypus, tbh.
  7. One of us! One of us! One of us!!
  8. Gotta catch'em all! Oh wait; different game. sorry
  9. As a grizzled veteran that was hazed in 1.14, the new berry bushes confounded me until my brain figure out what to look for. Now I see them in my periferal vision like all the other valuable resources. My first 1.22 world I nearly starved to death the first night coz I didn't see the berry bushes.
  10. Also Now, now girls. Do I have to get the Happy Cooperation Shirt out for you two?
  11. Give certain... abilities of seraphim I think it's totally reasonable for a seraph to outrun bears, wolves and other animals humans can't. The tweaks to animal ferocity the past couple of updates have taken the fangs out of the local wildlife, imo.
  12. My thoughts as well! I noticed that 1.21 and 1.22 rc<9 wildlife was not so dangerous as it is reported to be in the lore. So happy, happy, happy that the danger level is up.
  13. Now don't that sound familiar. You didn't happen to find an elk corpse at the bottom did you? Goes by the name Banzai.
  14. Not a hazing ritual. This thread is over 4 years old when clay had different spawning rules. This is why threads more than 12 months old should not be necro'd as world gen has undergone a LOT of changes in the past 12-18 months.
  15. PERFECT! Now I know how to set up my wind powered water mill. I found some rapids up near the max wind power and plan on combining the power from the water wheel and windmill into a single large gear to power a quad-hammer setup. I am so loving the seed I'm playing on!
  16. Some animals, particularly bighorn sheep, can climb 2 blocks of rock or dirt. If there is a block or slab of rock or dirt on top of a fence big horn sheep can escape over the fence. If you use a cliff face for one side of your animal pen, be sure the cliff face at ground level is at least 3 blocks high. Best to make it 4 to be on the safe side. You could also ring the entire pen with fences to be sure.
  17. That was true for rabbits back in the day. I don't think that is a viable game mechanic anymore; but someone with more technical expertise (like @tehpizzalady) can answer that question definitively.
  18. And here I thought you had discovered one of those ultra-rare worlds that have aquatic blooberry bushes with well night infinite shelf life. Maybe I was dreaming those things existed.
  19. Remember that there is in game reasons for wildlife to be more aggressive. Having said that, the wildlife is not nearly as aggressive as it was prior to bears being introduced. Wolves would follow you for very long distances.
  20. Or a bizarre flex on everyone else? That's the kind of thing that I'd have around as a "pet" to show off to everyone. Mostly for the giggles.
  21. Grass does need a nearby block to spread from. How nearby is nearby, I don't know. I don't think it needs to be contiguous like TOBG.
  22. At least you didn't spawn at the top of a mountain with a death dive to get off. Followed by a spawn camping bear.
  23. And here is the benefit of setting up shop in the rainiest of locations.
  24. Unless you get that notification when you're a few thousand blocks from home. I once was exploring for bauxite and wandered north a good distance when that announcement came and immediately started running home. You can read the rest of the tale here.
  25. Take the Long Way Home So a few worlds ago I was ready to make some steel but had no bauxite. Or was it olivine? meh. Doesn't matter. So I was out running straight north attempting to find some olivine, or bauxite, I doesn't recall anymores. But that doesn't matter. I had packed sufficient supplies and equipment to handle pretty much anything I would encounter; some light armor, a sword, a crock or two of food, and standard gear of pick, axe and shovel with space left to take back enough bauxite. Or was it olivine? I can't remember and it doesn't matter anyways but then that nice little warning appeareded... Oh. Dear. Gawds! I was a fair ways from home. I had already slept through one night in my travels for some olivine. Or bauxite? no matter. So I picked up and starts that long run home. What's that? Why wasn't I on an elk? No elk in that world as there wasn't an RA in game yet. So I runs. And I runs and I runs somemores. I jump over murder holes, around ponds, through forests, past wolves, swim through large lakes and keeps. on. running! I runs through the rest of the day. I pop my lantern in my off hand and runs on into the night. Still managing to avoid the murder holes which slows my progress some. But I keeps running in the hopes (faint and distant as they may be) of getting home before the storm hits. And then it hits me. Not some great idea. No. The storm you nitwit! So there I am running over hill and dale feeling like the drunkest of sailors as the land makes it's best impression of the stormy seas from Deadliest Catch. But I keeps running. And running. And running somemores. "Hi Bonnie!" I says as I scream past a surface drifter. At least I'm pretty sure it was Bonnie, but it could have been Clyde. Bonnie has this weird little snaggle rusted thing (I assume it's a tooth) at the bottom of his head where I assume his mouth would be, but I didn't have time to check for it. Day begins to break and I think the storm is nearing it's end... I hope. At lesat it feels like it should be ending soon. But I keep running coz at this point, stopping is only gonna be the death of me and while that is the quickest way home, I'm not too enthused about rebuilding my nutrtion and health afterwards. "Clyde! Where's Bonnie? He's back there a kilometer, I think. Can't chat now, your cousins are murder tonight!" I yells as I sail on by looking like the drunkest of sailors, I'm sure. And I keep running for a few more hours to watch the sun rise as the storm fades just a few hundred short blocks from home. And no bauxite. Or olivine. whichever one I was looking for. Whatever. It doesn't matter at this point.
