  1. This is weird because I'm having the same issue. WiFi started dying a lot playing this game, to the point that I wasn't sure if the device itself wasn't corrupted (happened on and off even when not playing the game too, but it started while I was playing VS) Anyway, I "fixed" it by buying a new wifi USB and setting it to never be turned off (in Device Manager, under Network Adapters and in Power Management inside Properties if you're wondering). Everything was fine for a while, but now just while I was playing VS, it's happened a again several times, but it seems like it reconnects afterwards too. So far (knock on wood) it hasn't done it outside of VS. I play Solo as well
  2. March 3rd 2021 for me, or at least that's the earliest screenshot I took! Coincidentally the first and last time I ever found a redwood forest too. I think I've had... well, definitely a good few hundred hours since then, that's for sure! Got to be over 250 by now
  3. I agree, having a player volume slider would be great! Ever since the voices were added, I've found they get far too loud while wearing headphones and jump scare me when my characters falls off a two block ledge too fast. Being able to tune it down (or up if some people prefer) a little would definitely help a ton
  4. I've got to agree. I never liked the addition of them throwing rocks, coupled with the unchangeable player voice volume made getting hit a jumpscare fest. Before the mods that changed both, it genuinely made me not want to play the game a few times. I can deal with everything else but those two things are not fun to deal with for me. Hopefully they implement a ranged thing for the rocks, or else make it an option that you can tick on or off on world gen
  5. @Thorfinn Those are all good points. If it were up to me, drinking straight from the freshwater block would be something I'd add, but only giving small amounts of hydration per drink, since you're effectively cupping your hands and drinking like that. Having skins/clay jugs and eventually bottles would help, allowing the player to carry water supplies wherever they go. Yeah, the current inventory is already pretty small honestly, I tend to use mods that enhance the backpack capacities. I think having them be simple inventory items would work, although a mod for something like a camelbak that you wear that holds a lot of water and you could drink from would be cool. For islands, I think coconuts and rain collectors crafted from logs and plant fibres would help a lot, maybe any other plants that could give water as well. Once you've got materials, making a distillery could allow you to desalinate the water from the ocean, and maybe give a very small amount of salt as well. For deserts, I think some kind of moisture collector might be interesting. I don't really know too much about it or even if it's doable with only primitive tech, I just remember seeing some in the Mad Max game made out of tarp and buckets and I thought they were a really cool idea. Maybe hides and buckets in this case, or some kind of large windmill looking structure that funnels water into a metal tank? Other than that, I think the main issue with deserts would always be the lack of food and water, or at least those resources in large amounts.
  6. I like the idea of a thirst bar as a toggleable option for game world settings. Currently, there's really not a whole lot of reason for me to make alcohol in terns of game mechanics, apart from Aqua Vitae used for bandages and preservation, and even then the drunk visuals can be a little annoying sometimes. Water mechanics could go hand in hand with both heat and cold. Hotter climates would drain your water quicker, especially if you're in exposed deserts or humid jungles. In the colder regions, making tea or other warm drinks would help consistently skite off the cold rather than cooking hot meals. This could also be another optional mechanic that people could toggle on or off to their liking. It would give people a reason to make juice as well. Water taken from impure sources would need to be boiled, but juice is simply pressed and ready to go as well as giving a small amount of satiety, but could go bad faster than stored water. Alcohol like beer, wine and cider would be another great way of water preservation, and then having distilled drinks do the opposite and detract from hydration, or only give a very, very small amount of hydration.
  7. I agree, footstep sounds would be great. It doesn't need to be loud like Minecraft sounds, just enough so that a player who's paying attention can get a sense for what's around them, especially for drifters and any other monster type creatures.
  8. So, I just want to start out by saying that I think the voice a nice creative touch, I really like how they tie in to character creation, and I'm looking forward to how they could be modded in the future. But I do have some criticisms with them, mainly their volume and the length of some of the sounds. I play with headphones mostly, and the voices are honestly far too loud whenever I get hurt, which ends up turning it into a jumpscare fest when I fall from somewhere that's too high accidentally. A volume slider for voices would be fantastic, just so people can adjust to what they want without impacting the other sounds in the game. The second one, although I think that being able to adjust the volume would help here as well, is the length of the hurt sounds. It feels just a little too long most of the time and which ties in with the volume being too loud and sudden, and ends up, to me, being quite annoying that I end up either playing without headphones or sometimes just not playing the game, especially if it's late. Like I said before, it's a great system, I think it just needs a few options associated with it like volume control and it'd be perfect.
