Interestingly enough, ive dropped a chandelier on my head killing myself discovering this. Gravity is a blast in this game. Good job team.

I am definitely in the colder regions. Im noticing that my fruit trees blossom far later than other fruit trees south of my base. Also, ice blocks remain in the lakes throughout summer which im guessing is a bug. Anyways, powering on. I dig this game. I am far north enough that moose spawn in place of deer so im guessing I need to locate higher altitudes.

Well thanks a million for clearing this up for me as I was curious too. Now if I could only find Elk. Are they particular to a specific biome or distance from the tropics? Exploring can be a bit a tedious but I won't lie, ive become a huge fan of the telecommunicators. Ive only delved into one world too and I'm hooked. But every shred of knowledge obtained concerning this game adds to overall gameplay and integrity. This game is sweet but I can see a benefit to finding a discord or something similar to to play multiplayer with other players and hands to lessen duties. (Im just now learning the ramifications of having a sounder and drift of hogs leads to stacks and stacks of spoiled meats). This game takes a ton of planning ahead to avoid heartache and the school of hard knocks. XD

I was able to get into the copper age just panning sands and gravels, though this took a winter or two locked up in a cobbled shed freezing my blocked butt off learning about temporal storms. XD Come to think of it, I even managed tin bronze but believe this was possible from panning bony soil. Anyways, the pan opens up a lot for the game in my opinion. Love how the temporal gears can be inventoried in the off hand and when the inventory is full and panning must commence its like winning the lottery when a green gear shows up in your hand.

Okay it does get a bit overwhelming but just stick to the concept of storage and food. Every cattail you come across is one of two things, food or storage. One reed basket two blocks deep with a block of dirt sealing the hole counts as a cellar and works wonders on preservation. Half of the cattails you consume and the other half you plant. These you harvest when grown every time to expand storage and can also be harvested in a pinch to stave off hunger. Berry Bushes. Every. Single. One. Of. Them. Should be planted back at your base. And collect sticks for a wattle fence as a perimeter big enough to keep your farm lands safe from raccoons and pigs and chickens and rabbits and no oh my. Im just shy of three hundred hours and have just gotten into the Iron Age. Which is a fresh breath of durability. Just wait until you get into the copper age and consumption hits you broadside. XD

Using the Fruit Press on Honeycomb (New to v1.21.0)

Nothing new under the sun. Right? There are many things I didn't know either and still many more. Im an H button fanatic. But what a neat game regardless. Very impressive. -
This is awesome. I bake fresh sourdough every week and keep my own bees (well they all died off but I havent thrown in the towel) and I think your humble reply is spot on. Id say this game is a grind on endeavor and throwing in the towel may be an option but why not conquer the issue and power on? Reeds are plentiful and should be brought back to the base in mass. Even thatch though clay tile roofs are so incredibly easy to make. All the hides from animals should be oiled and cured the first winter since fat won't be needed for storage and mechanical builds yet. Storage vessels and reed traps allow for quick food reserves. Pits work great for catching animals. Two blocks deep with a vegetable planted on a two block column in the center. Pigs are what I would excerpt all energies breeding. Excellent resources with fat, red meat and bones. I have so much red meat I compost it for Terra Preta. That's another awesome mechanic I do in real life (composting, and even red meat which I feed to my chickens, they LOVE). It would be radical to see something like Polyface Farms on YouTube does cycling chickens, pigs, and cows on the land and leaving one field to farrow over a year. Very cool stuff. At least they have the option to allow the nutrients to come back if left untouched for a year cycle. Anyways, to the original curator of this message id say to stop comparing VS to other games. Id venture to say that other games pail in comparison against VS but my limited basis of comparison would be Minecraft or Call of Duty. Both of which fit the description I just mentioned. Vintage Story is meant to stand alone. As it was originally intended and a mod for Minecraft, correct? Just keep grinding buddy. Stock up on the things that are the core of the character. Reeds. And prospect for metal bits. I spent my first winter in a cobble hut in the water panning sand and gravel and some bony soil. Collect every seed you come across. Don't bother coming back when they're matured unless your only aim is to maximize seed output. Spears are an easy first weapon too and can be made from the spoils of panning sand and gravel. A crude bow goes right along with the arrowheads found panning material too. There really are a plethora of ways to maximize the experience of this game but I would venture to say that comparison is the thief of joy in this issue. Just stick to your guns and plan ahead for venturing out. Wattle fences are awesome. Stone fences are awesome. You can do it.

Using the Fruit Press on Honeycomb (New to v1.21.0)
OBAMFSpike replied to Professor Dragon's topic in Discussion
This is a lot to take in, considering ive only used the wax to create candles for lanterns. From being a Beek in the past I'm forced to question why we can't have an extruder or comb spinner that works in tandem with the windmill? Very cool information concerning the wet mash aspect you've mentioned. Only stacking eight combs is rather space consuming. -
Me thinks a swim in lava would be less painful. We both know the boiling will be much quicker.
-
I only made an educated guess and have absolutely know knowledge of this matter. Is logical thinking permitted? I might be in hot water but I aint no frog. Kek eerrrrrrrr........
-
Ive found myself building corridors of dirt but it's even hard to break free and do a torch spurge. Chicken I be too to bock bock for another day.
-
No good deed goes unpunished. But my curiosity has piqued and I can't help but wonder if you weren't in a column of boiling water that was in contact with your culprit. Just a hunch. XD
-
Don't you just love restocking inventory lost to circumstance. Holy smokes! Tier Four presents an entirely different style of spelunking, sheesh! XD

Tonight would be my first truly frustrating death. Let me explain. Im a noob, as it were, but I'm not a green wet behind the ears noob. I comprehend many of the mechanics of the game and comprehend a lot about building and animal husbandry and all that jazz. Well ive been digging deep using the Prospecting pick (excellent addition in this game I might add) and I happened upon some Casserite. Well underneath it was my first cave system that ive dug into and discovered without first finding its opening on the surface. Of course the cave was deep and I found it shortly after leaving Peridotite and entering Andorite. Ive learned to use dirt to fill stairwells methodically behind me to keep drifters from surprising me from the rear. Well, I cleared out the vein of Tin and started to explore the cave when BAMMMM! Hello Nightmare Drifter. Dead. One shot. And now I'm running a thousand blocks back to my mine shaft in the dead of night and unannounced to me I will go blind when traversing the adits below because of my handy dirt method blocking my six when I'm digging. I came upon where all my gear was lying in wait and the grace light when death steals our goods vanished into blackness, Well crap the bed. Spend a few minutes trying orient myself using coordinates, Daggum deep drifter just nixed me. Right in the face. Turned around and Hello Goodbye. Okay. Thousand block run back and this time I remove the dirt block to recognize my emptied Tin vein where I was brutally disemboweled by the nightmare drifter no longer contained my items. I stopped at home base and grabbed a torch out of a torch holder. And this is my first time loosing my goods in this game. Backpacks, bismuth bronze tools, Bismuth Lantern, longbow, and it's a good thing i emptied my inventory before attempting to explore the cave I had uncovered. Good thing I overdo everything. If only life were as simple as a survival game. Id be rich beyond compare. Instead I'm just a nobody that lost all their gear to the time limit. Now ive gotta come up with a mine deviling kit that gets left at the mouth of the shaft so when I inadvertently bight the dust again ill be able to see when I'm jumping back into the mantle of the world. Maybe a torch holder should sit at the mouth of all mines. At least some light would help in recovering my corpse. These are lessons learned. Me thinks.

I am flabbergasted by this game. Anyone with a negative opinion is a uninformed dull-witted ninny snapper. Whatever that is. This game is awesome. And the little I know of the supporting team that has created it shares the same review. I hope to see great success with this game and It would be a pleasure to see the consumer steam nonsense stay as far away from this stellar journey as possible. Something different isn't just welcomed but encouraged and cherished! Greed is ugly and it's refreshing having a team of individuals that pursues fairness and integrity. Okay, that is all. Great comment. No Steam BIG DREAM.

Honestly, long story short, this game is Gold.

Excellent. I am on the right track then. Collected every berry bush and marked all clay and found bees and and and and............ I have pigs, chickens and rabbits. All spoiled food gets composted for Terra Preta as mentioned. Now I'm looking for obsidian and lava. This game is deep. So much exploration but even more important is how every journey is recon for potential resources. Hunting bears has provided fat as well as moose. But it sure goes quickly with wood for mechanical power. Stumbled upon a Translocator which has really broadened the journey and allowed for the discovery of bees which opens up Lamps. Oh man ive got some time invested and a lot more in the future. I definitely need to pursue Discord and try this game in Multiplayer. It's easy to see how teamwork can benefit game play in a monumental way. Sorry for the book.

Well, truth be told, I wasn't aware I had to adjust settings to spawn oceans. So I will be working on this build for a while. Third year in the game with a little under two hundred hours vested this far. I havent even been able to locate bees yet and fat is getting harder to source the more I progress and use for things like the windmill. What a cool game. I'm looking forward to Vintage Story for many years to come. What a cool job these hombres have.
-
Well I thank you for saving me the time and effort of attempting this. I just started playing Vintage Story and I am happier than a two petered puppy. Very cool game.

Howdy. First time in the threads here. Radical game. Too much quartz means build glass houses at the bottom of deep lakes and oceans as to hide your coveted gold and silver? Anyways, once I get out of the copper age, I'll get to blasting and mining quartz and the metals that hide within it. I get to blow stuff up!
